MOTHER CAROLINE ACADEMY

CLASS SPONSORSHIP

Page 2: MCA Class Sponsorship

Founded in 1993, Mother Caroline Academy serves girls of all faiths, race and cultures in grades 4-8 from Boston neighborhoods who come from families with limited financial means. Today, success is measured through graduation rates—100% of alumnae graduate from high school and 96% attend college.

As a private, tuition free school, MCA receives little funding from government sources or religious organizations. MCA relies primarily on the support of individuals and foundations.

Mother Caroline Academy has benefited from the investment by long time supporters resulting in a sizable endowment with an annual payout that covers approximately 20% of MCA’s annual operating expenses. Class sponsorship covers 15% of the annual costs associated with educating 15 girls. The remaining 65% of annual operating expenses are covered through major gifts, the annual appeal, foundation support and a small amount of reimbursements and fees.

• Sponsoring families pledge $50,000 per year for a class of 15 girls through graduation year.

• The MCA Class Sponsor Liaison works with each sponsoring family to develop annual schedules for activities that the sponsoring family and students will participate in together. Schedules and activities are developed based on the availability and interests of the sponsoring families as well as the students.

• The MCA Sponsor Liaison coordinates all logistics related to outings/activities. Class sponsors are asked to participate in at least 3 activities per year with their class.

• To the extent possible, sponsoring families are encouraged to attend events that involve their students, e.g. science fair, graduation, poetry slam.

• Sponsoring families may elect to provide other helpful educational resources to their class at their option (computers, reading materials, art supplies, etc.)
