Two Camps in One RISE Camp is comprised of an Upper and Lower program, both of which provide campers with a rich selection of courses and activities to choose from. Rooted in the MB Friends philosophy, RISE Camp seeks to inspire and support each camper in their diverse needs and interests. The energetic camp staff is a mix of experienced teachers and coaches, highly-motivated college students and exceptional high school students, many of whom were RISE campers themselves. Come find out why RISE is truly a camp unlike any other!

RISE Camp, established at Moses Brown in 1963, has offered a dynamic mixture of arts, academics, science, sports, and fun

to children ages 5-14 for more than 50 memorable summers.

RISE Camp offers a wide variety of courses and activities from which campers can create a custom-designed camp curriculum. RISE is a camp of limitless possibilities!

As part of the RISE tradition, one day each week, Upper and Lower campers come together to celebrate theme days. These include Treasure Hunt, Gold Rush, and the Campers vs. Counselors Basketball Challenge. Events such as the Ultimate Frisbee Challenge, talent show and the Broadway Bound productions make for a unifying and exciting camp experience.

Six young sailors, ages 11-16, will ship out of the Herreshoff Museum in Bristol aboard Moses Brown’s 36’ sailing vessel FRIENDSHIP. Onboard for five days, campers will receive personalized, hands-on training and education in an ideal small-group setting. While sailing the waters of beautiful Narragansett Bay, the crew will be exposed to an array of educational experiences in the areas of maritime history, local geography, and marine biology. By working together to achieve a common goal, the crew will develop and improve upon their teamwork, and leadership skills.

With a United States Coast Guard Licensed Captain, an experienced First Mate, and modern navigation and safety equipment, FRIENDSHIP offers a big-boat platform which is ideal for both beginner and advanced sailors to develop and improve upon foundational sailing skills such as rig-ging, points of sail and trim, aerodynamics, weather, tides and currents, and naviga-tion. Returning sailors are encouraged to participate again to take their skills to the next level!

DownCity Design: Build It!This summer, DownCity Design brings its award-winning youth architecture program to Moses Brown plus. Together, a group of campers ages 11-14 will take on a small-scale design / build project that will help make the city of Providence a better place. They will choose a problem to tackle, dream up something they could create to solve that problem, test it out, make it even better… and then build it.

DownCity Design is a non-profit organization dedicated to improving the city of Providence by getting young people involved in building our future. We help youth become change-makers by inviting them to design and build structures that respond creatively to the challenges and opportunities of our communities. In our summer program, students learn the fundamen-tals of architecture, design, carpentry and community service in a fun and supportive environment.

DownCity Design will be offering two two-week sessions. The first session will focus on designing a small-scale community project, while the second session will guide students safely through the build process using basic woodworking techniques. No prior design or construction experience is necessary.
