YOUR FAMILY is our best form of

Mrs. Frost, BC’s American Literature teacher, had the

opportunity to visit Washington DC this spring. The highlight was a trip to

Frederick Douglass’ DC home, Cedar Hill,

where he spent the last 19 years of his

life. He fought for slave’s rights and women’s rights. He acknowledged

“Divine Providence” – God’s direct hand in his life.

He was a respected advisor to President Lincoln and others. Redemption is a cornerstone of his life – born a slave,

freed from slavery, self-taught – he never tired of speaking and writing for

the freedom of others. This DC experience will help Mrs. Frost enrich her classroom presentation of

Douglass’ slave narrative.

Douglass; and Mrs. Frost, sitting the porch of his home.

companies who “match gifts” in the literature rack in the office. Or check with your HR office today! This is a great way to double, sometimes triple, the benefit of your gift.
