(#9900-263)• 1/4 yard of orange

(#9900-209)• 1/4 yard of persimmon

(#9900-294)• 1/4 yard of raspberry

(#9900-140)• 1/4 yard of popsicle

(#9900-143)• 1/4 yard of coral (#9900-147)• 1/8 yard of kelly (#9900-76)

(or a single fabric piece 23” x 65”)

Additional Supplies:• 8 photocopies of paper piecing

template page (included) • 3” x 5” index card• Add a Quarter Ruler (optional)

BONUS INSTRUCTIONS to enlarge the runner to a 54” x 60” quilt throw:

An extra 2-1/4 yards of “spray blue” fabric can be used to turn this table runner into an easy throw size quilt. Sub-cut this yardage by cutting off 21 inches to be used for binding. From remaining 60 inches, use the “snip and rip method” to make two 18-inch wide lengthwise strips, then sew one to each side of runner. Quilt and bind.

Add-a-Quarter Paper Piecing Instructions

Cut apart the paper templates, leaving a margin around the outer dotted line, which represents the unfinished edge of the block. Solid lines are stitching lines – do not cut on the solid lines! NOTE: If you don’t have an “Add-a- Quarter” ruler, use a standard rotary cutting ruler instead.

3

Step 1: Place wrong side of fabric against the back side of the numbered pattern and pin. Make sure the pin does not cross any of the solid stitching lines. Flower head pins work best as they lay flatter.

Step 3: Using the Add-a-Quarter ruler, lay the lip of the ruler on the folded paper edge and trim with the fabric with a rotary cutter. Remove the card and the fabric you trimmed off. Open the paper piecing pattern up flat again and flip it over (keep the pin in place for now.)

Step 2: Place the 3” x 5” index card on the line between sections A1 and A2 and fold the paper along the line as shown.

Step 4: Lay one of the blue triangles that you cut previously from the 3” x 6” blue rectangles along the new cut edge, right sides together. Use another pin to hold the two pieces of fabric and your paper piecing template together.

Piecing Instructions (cont.)

Remove the first pin. Flip your unit back to the front side of your pattern. Set your sewing machine stitch length to 1.8mm to 2mm stitch length (this makes tearing off the paper easier later!). Stitch on the A1/A2 line, starting your stitching 1/4” before the line starts and ending 1/4” past the line (refer to photo.)

Step 5: Remove the pin and flip the A2 fabric open. Press.

Step 6: Repeat steps 2-5 for A2/A3 line of pattern.

TRIM ON THE OUTSIDE DOTTED LINE OF THE PAPER PATTERN.

Remove the paper and you will have a perfect 4-1/2” square flower unit.
