PASTOR’S MESSAGE
May 6, 2018 Queen of Heaven | 5
Dear family,
Are you praying your rosary daily? Make the effort,
this month especially, to honor our Blessed Mother
Mary, the holy mother of our Lord, in this way.
As I mentioned briefly last weekend at the 4:30pm Sat-
urday evening Mass, the gentleman who led us in sing-
ing at that Mass, Mr. Vernon Reza, advised us that he
is no longer able to continue that ministry at our parish
due to other obligations. Thanks be to God for his sup-
port and help in times past, and the Lord bless him in
his journey of faith, along with his ministry assistant,
Ms. Jeanne. Say a pray for them.
In that regard, we are looking to form a choir from
among our parishioners. This effort will first focus on
inviting those among us who have good voices and can
sing. Our primary efforts will not be to look first for
any instrumentalists…but singers. Not everybody has
a beautiful voice or is able to sing well, so if you do,
please let me know. Those whose voice is not so good
are not called to singing ministry, no matter how much
you like or want to sing, but certainly you have other
amazing ways you can serve the Lord’s work. God
doesn’t give us gifts and abilities to keep to our-
selves…but to bear much fruit and be his disciples
gives glory to God, as the Lord Jesus stated last week-
end.
If someone has a beautiful voice and another person
not so much, why do you think that is? Who gave us
those gifts? Our Lord is the reason, and He expects us
to use our talents for the purposes of the Master, who
gave them to us, not to bury them (cf. Matthew
25:15). Brothers and sisters, if you hear somebody
with a beautiful voice near you, please encourage them
to consider being part of the choir. Let me know who
they are and I can certainly talk to them. Mr. Joseph
Montiel has been helping to lead us in singing at the
7:30am Mass, but we are also looking to add members
so that it becomes a “choir” with several good strong
voices.
Children from our Catholic School and those from our
parish CCD classes will be making their first Holy
Communion next Saturday. Please pray for them.
I hope and pray that you have a blessed week,
Fr. Sáenz
Querida familia,
Nuestro principal esfuerzo no será buscar prime-ro a ningún instrumentista ... sino a cantantes.
