The Ascension of the Lord

($6,800 remaining) (ACHIEVED!!!)

Memorial Day Mass A Mass for the Dead will be celebrated at the altar in the Veterans’

Section of the Catholic Cemetery in La Crosse on Memorial Day, May 29, at 11:15 am. The Rev. Msgr. Robert Hundt, Judicial Vicar, will be the principal celebrant. All are welcome to participate.

Parish Office Closed The Parish office will be closed Monday, May 29 in honor of Memorial Day.

The Pope’s Prayer Intentions for June That national leaders may firmly commit themselves to ending the arms trade, which victimizes so many innocent people.

Monthly Mass Social Please join us Thursday, June 1 after the 7:30 am Mass for coffee, conversation, and fellowship.

Congratulations to all our Graduates We would like to extend a special congratulations and blessing to all graduates. To all of our middle school, high school, and college graduates, may the Holy Spirit continue to guide you on your journey of life!

Church Sound System We're getting a new sound system installed in our church! Thanks to 8 households, the parish has the $74,936 needed to install it this July!

There's more good news!

1. Since the operating system also serves the sound system in the future Parish Hall (Phase II), it's like having an extra $18,338 for our capital campaign.

2. When we reach Phase IV of our campaign (i.e. church improvements), we won't need to raise money for a sound system at a higher cost.

3. A parishioner is making an additional gift of $10,000 to cover half the cost of the items for the choir which is $20,045. She treasures the quality of our music ministry, values the richness it adds to the celebration of the Eucharist, and wishes to show appreciation for the hidden sacrifices our musicians make in this ministry. Another 2 parishioners have made gifts to raise the total to $13,245.

If there is interest from a few donors to cover the remaining cost of the items for the choir's use, we will include it in the summer installation.

$56,598 - church speakers and mics

$18,338 - operating system

$74,936 - Total needed for installation

+$20,045 - items for choir's use

+$ 6,311 - church camera with feed to Parish Hall +$ 1,021 - audio recorder & CD player $102,313

All costs include equipment, installation, and a year of operational support. Please contact Fr. Konopa if you have any questions: 788-5483 x.7.

Food Baskets for June Catholic Charities is grateful for all the food donations and is most in need of personal hygiene items such as: big bottles shampoo, conditioner, body wash, tooth paste, bar soap, razors, shaving cream, feminine hygiene pads, tooth brushes, hair brushes, toilet paper, and laundry soap

Save a Life, Donate Blood MMOC will be hosting a blood drive Monday, June 12 from 2-

Groundbreaking Ceremony on June 18

Construction for the new Parish Hall and Religious Education Center will begin with a brief groundbreaking ceremony immediately following the 10 am Mass on Father's Day, June 18. Because this historic event involves our future Religious Education Center, the parish contacted all the "graduates" of St. Pius X School and St. Thomas More School we could locate and invited them to the ceremony! We relied primarily on the addresses in the 2015 Aquinas High School Alumni Book to reach out to 1,000+ former students. Some addresses were unknown, especially those who attended Central High School or other schools. The mailing should have arrived at their homes by Mother's Day. If your classmates, siblings, children, grandchildren, and friends did not receive an invitation, please contact the parish office with their names and addresses so we can send them a personal invitation (and a flier which includes "pictures" of the future building and a collage of pictures from their school days): 788-5483, ext. 7

Dear Lord, On this day, we remember

those who have served

us by protecting our freedoms.

When we celebrate our

long weekend with our friends and family, help us

remember, that our freedom to speak of you, and

our freedom to worship you, and our freedom to do that which we ought to do, have all been bought at

the price and sacrifice of many lives.

Your Son died for our eternal life in heaven. So too,

your children died protecting us here on earth.

Help us be mindful this weekend and always of the

sacrifices made by those in uniform for all our freedoms. Amen.

Building Our Future Together

The new north parking lot is in operation! The new parking area has only 5 spaces marked for “handicapped” parking. However, when designing it we had in mind the needs of all people with mobility issues … even if they don’t have a handicapped parking permit. Sometimes a convenient parking spot may be helpful when recovering from surgery or an injury.

Please remember, the new parking lot is ONE WAY … enter from Weston Street and exit onto 21st Street (see the map below). Signs are being prepared to give traffic directions and will be put up as soon as possible.

We’re pleased that the proposals for Bid Package #1 for construction of the new Parish Hall and Religious Education Center building came in favorably … within budget! Bid Package #2 for the remainder of the construction work was released this past week. Those bids are due to Fowler & Hammer on June 7.

NEXT WEEKEND, JUNE 3-4, after the weekend Masses, we will have a Building Our Future Together Parish Presentation to provide an update prior to the start of construction. We plan to give a “virtual” tour of the interior of the Parish Hall!

This Memorial Day weekend please prayerfully recall the beautiful service of our veterans and re-member to keep our parish in your prayers as we Build Our Future Together.
