Pope Tweets
@Pontifex
Let us be challenged by the words and actions of
Jesus, and welcome his call to a life that is fully
human, happy to spend itself in love.
May 7, 2017
Jesus asks to be looked in the eye, to be
acknowledged, to be loved.

From the Director of Faith Formation
Our year of religious education ended with First Communion Masses the weekend of
May 6th. Our parish offers education and community-building programs for children
from pre-kindergarten through high school. We would not be able to offer so many
catechetical opportunities without the help of many parishioners, parents, staff, and
outside participants. They generously share their time, faith, and personal and
professional experiences with our community. They share the greatest gift they have—themselves. We learn
from one another by spending time together, studying together, sharing stories and traditions, teaching our
values and inspiring action by example, and demonstrating what it means to love our neighbor as ourselves.
On behalf of our parish, I thank everyone who participates in any way toward our collective responsibility to
hand on what was handed on to us: the love of Christ. That’s what it means to evangelize—and that’s why we
have a Church to begin with. That’s what we mean by Good News. When you hear it, you want to tell
everyone else! Think about that. Think about how you can share this Good News. We can never have
enough evangelizers. Not everyone is a John the Baptist, but we all have something to share about our own
faith experience. Think about how you might participate in our programs next fall. Our parish needs you!

Are You Interested in Learning More
About the Catholic Faith?
Perhaps you have been worshiping with us, but have
never took steps to become Catholic or perhaps you
have joined us from a different denomination but
are now being called to the Catholic Church. The
RCIA (Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults) is the
process through which non-baptized individuals or
those baptized in another denomination become
members of the Catholic Church. This process is
also available to someone who may have been
baptized Catholic but has not received the
sacraments of Eucharist or Confirmation. To learn
more about the RCIA program at St. Peter’s please
call Anna Molettieri at 617-547-4235 x117 or email

Mary Crowning
Last Sunday,
Mother’s Day, we had
our annual crowning
of the Blessed Virgin
Mary. The weather
kept us inside, where
we celebrated with a
procession, singing,
and crowning. Thank
you, Mairead and all in attendance. Mary, Mother
of God, pray for us!

We Need You to Bring the Eucharist to
Our Neighbors Who Cannot Be With Us
Our parish has a growing ministry to bring
communion to people who are in nursing homes,
assisted living facilities, hospitals, as well as to
people who are homebound. Please consider
volunteering! This is a wonderful way to share our
Eucharistic banquet with those who are nearby but
unable to be with us. You can fit this ministry to your
own schedule, in as little as an hour or two a week, on
weekdays or weekends. No prior experience is
needed. Deacon Tim O’Donnell and his wife Elke
will provide training and help with the logistics. If
you are interested in exploring this, please call or
email Deacon Tim at 617-897-1148 or
Food Pantry Needs

parmesan cheese, condiments, salsa, coffee
creamer, honey, milk (such as Parmalat), juice,

Harvard Square Churches Meals Program
Service Opportunities
For the past 5 years St. Peter Parish has been helping
to provide volunteers to the Harvard Square Churches
Meals Program each Thursday during the summer
months. The program serves a nutritious sit- down
dinner to over 100 guests at Christ Church, 0 Garden
Street. They rely on college students for volunteers.
Our parish has been able to provide assistance during
the summer and on school breaks. Over 50
parishioners have volunteered since we began. If you
are interested in helping out, we hope to send 4-5
volunteers each week from June 1 through September
21(except for June 23). Volunteers need to arrive
between 4:30-4:45pm. Doors open for guests at 5:00
p.m; dinner is at 5:30 p.m.; and clean up concludes by
7:30 p.m. If you have any questions or would like to
sign up for a week or two, please contact Anna
Molettieri at [email protected]. or
