REPORT DETAILS

Overview

May 2020 was an exciting time for the KVLEAN initiative and much was set in place through our hardworking individuals, churches and NGO’s. Strategies have been refined and pillars have been put in place, but the most exciting news was that we were able to serve 563 000 meals from the beginning of April through to the end of May 2020! The key areas impacted were Muldersdrift, Kromdraai, Krugersdorp, Honeydew, Zandspruit, Cosmo City, Lion Park, Video Centre and Windsor. Other highlights include:

• Being featured on various media platforms including: Radio Pulpit, Rainbow FM, MIXFM and an online post with JOY Magazine!

• Continued collaboration between 30 organizations including churches and NGO’s • Adhering to all government’s Lockdown requirements and distributing food safely to all our zones • Adhering to the Department of Health’s COVID-19 health and safety requirements • Building stronger relationships with all our community pastors serving in the different zones • Building stronger relationships with government and the DSD and other community governmental

structures • Mobilizing more people from churches, to help in the various pillars into the different areas of needs • Gaining valuable insights and on-the-ground experience during this time with regards to food

distribution • Building a strong database of recipients • Building a database of our community pastors, and beneficiaries served. • Launching and driving the Barn Compassion Facebook page and presence with a total of 262 likes • Developing and launching a successful food voucher application • Distribution 5000 gospel flyers with the food parcels

Food Distribution

In April - May the following statistics apply with regards to meals served during the period:

KV Relief Fund

The figures indicate the total amount of funds raised ending on the 4th June 2020 against expenditure on food parcels and vouchers. It is evident that funding is required to continue the relief efforts. Funding will become more of a focus through the sponsorship pillar from the month of June onwards, whereas most of the funds accumulated during April and May were received through church donations into the KV Relief Fund managed by the Barn Church.
