Safety & Security
You Are Always In Control
Often while watching the news the lead story is about someone getting hurt as a result of road rage, a conflict or disagreement with a neighbor, or sometimes a complete stranger. Minor disagreements can escalate and get out of control quickly. Sometimes all it takes is a raised voice, a defensive or negative posture, or hand gesture. If you’re thinking this doesn’t happen at Kings Point you would be mistaken - occasionally it does happen at the gates, pools, homes, restaurants/café, and just about everywhere that people co-exist!
So how does this happen? How can I prevent this from happening to me? In most cases it requires one of the individuals involved to think rationally and stay calm, and to make sure to not allow the situation to get out of control. If you remain calm, you will increase the chances of a workable solution. Two people yelling at each other rarely accomplishes anything. Lets look at road rage solutions. For example, I would suggest you are always better off to simply let it go. Nothing good will become of engaging someone you don’t know on the topic of their driving skills. A road rage situation can escalate and become dangerous very fast. De-Escalation can begin by not making eye contact with an aggressive driver. Roll up your window so you do not hear their comments. In situations where someone appears to be agitated, decide to be the person determined to not allow the situation to get out of hand. Another key to diffusing a potentially volatile situation is to stay calm and never invade a person’s personal space. Provide them the same courtesy you would like extended to you, and try to hear their side of the disagreement by listening while they are talking. If all attempts fail, know when to step away and exit the situation if you don’t seem to be making progress. Remember even the best communicators can’t get through to everyone. If you maintain your composure, you will increase the chances of the situation not getting out of control. Below is from section eight of Kings Point Policies and Procedures. Enjoy your beautiful community, and always remember to treat others the way you would like to be treated. VIII. SAFETY AND SECURITY The Clubhouse facilities are for the benefit of all of the residents of Kings Point. Accordingly, certain basic, minimum standards of conduct and courtesy must be observed throughout the clubhouse facilities for the protection of the health, safety, and welfare of all of the residents.

Chief of Security
