Principal’s Message Planning for Next Year

May and June are busy months for all schools. During this time, the staff at Norgate will be reviewing the current school year and activities, and making plans for the 2016 – 2017 school year. The following policies and guidelines help determine the size and make up of our classes for next year.

• Academic ability • Class size • Classroom balance: gender, instructional grouping, learning needs • English Language Learning Needs • Student compatibility

If you know of a friend or neighbour whose children are not yet registered at Norgate or someone who is planning to move into our area from another school, please have them contact Central Registration as soon as possible. It is important that you inform us if you anticipate a change in your child’s/children’s school attendance for next year. Please contact us immediately if you are planning a move. By the end of June, our team will have preliminary classroom organizations in place. These temporary placements will be reviewed during the first week of September to accommodate changes that may occur in the summer months.

You know your child best and your input is important to us. If you have any information that you would like staff to consider about placement for next year, please put it in writing to Lisa Upton before May 31, 2016. While we try our best to accommodate educationally sound requests, unfortunately, we cannot guarantee them. If you have any questions, please don’t hesitate to contact me.
