Meeting Schedules:
* Council meets at 7 pm on the 1st Thursday of the month, in John Bosco Hall.
* The Assembly #3025 (4th Degree) meets at 7pm on the 2nd Thursday, in John Bosco Hall.

Saint Paul says: Accept one another as Christ accepted you, for the glory of God. “Now accepting one another means being willing to share
one another’s thoughts and feelings, bearing one another’s burdens, and preserving the unity of the Spirit in the
bond of peace.” – St. Cyril the Great Brothers,Brother Allen, our Financial
Secretary has completed his term. He has admirably assisted in the Council’s growth these past three years. We owe him debt of gratitude. He remains
active as the Captain of our superb First Degree Team and hopefully will continue his able assistance to the
Council in other endeavors.Brother Fred Costello will follow
him and I ask you to give him your
fullest support. The new Ministry’s building across
from the JBH/Social Hall will soon be our new home. As more information
becomes available, such as opening dates, meeting room availability, etc., we will let you know. Parking will be
limited so most will park in the Church lot and use the new crosswalk to walk over.
We close a very active April with our Memorial Mass and Corporate Communion. April saw us get back to a successful Pasta Dinner. Thank you
to Luca, Ed, and the whole team, and to those like Glen, Eric, Joseph who set up, the ladies who decorated, provided
those delicious desserts, and all who
stayed for the cleanup. That is what we are about; how we preserve the unity of the Spirit.
Our Annual Golf Classic is May
4th and we again look forward to a very successful one with over 100 golfers, numerous sponsors, and a lot of
sweat from a superb Tournament Team led by Tony Giamboi.
The officer met to develop the
proposed calendar for next year. It is proposed because many of our events take place on the Parish Grounds, therefore our events and dates must be
approved by the Pastor and Office Staff. When approved, the calendar will be printed, posted, and distributed.
Remember in your prayers all our deceased brothers, their families, deceased family members of our own
Council, and all our brothers going through difficult times; accept one another for the Glory of God.

Dear Brother Knights
I believe we have all heard the saying-
“can’t see the forest for the trees”. Well I had that
brought home to me when I read the recent email
from the Florida Conference of Catholic Bishops
on their review of the efforts of the Florida
Legislature. This review comes out weekly as long
as the Florida State legislature is in session and it
focuses on bills being considered from a Catholic
prospectus. As you can imagine there are a lot of
things the legislature does that we are not
interested in but there are things that the Catholic
Bishops want us to know about, inform us of the
“Catholic teaching on the subject” and, hopefully
encourage us to write to our local (state)
congressman/ women about our concern for how
they should vote on a bill.
Back to my opening – I was so focused on the
National right –to life-day and the anniversary of
Roe vs. Wade that I did not think to follow what
our state might be doing to address life issues. I
thought things were all over. Well they are not! Our
state reps are dealing with a number of issues
about life that could affect us and our families
here at home. Take for instance the recent bill that
was written to protect infants born alive during an
attempted abortion- CS/CS/SB 1636 (Flores).
Here our legislature is providing that an infant
born alive during an attempted abortion is
required to be transported to the nearest
emergency medical facility for immediate
treatment. The measure also requires abortion
providers to report infants born alive to state
officials. CS/CS/HB 1129 (Pigman) covering this
was unanimously passed by the FL. House last
week. Wow! Who would have thought that this
would not happen? That these vulnerable infants
would not have received such treatment is not
something I could believe needed a state law to
protect and insure. Well bravo to the sponsors and
folks that voted for these initiatives and thanks to
the Catholic Bishops of Florida for keeping me
focused on the trees as well as the forest. If you
have not signed up to follow what is going on in
our legislature please consider this web site-
As ever-Vivat Jesus. Pete

Since Since Memorial Day is right around the corner, I thought I would give a brief history of this important holiday. Memorial Day is an American federal holiday which falls every year the last M o n d a y i n M a y. I t i s a d a y o f remembering the men and women who perished while serving in the United States Armed Forces. Not to be confused with Veterans Day; Memorial Day is a day of remembering the men and women who died while serving in the military, while Veterans Day celebrates those individuals who dedicated their lives to service.
Originally known as Decoration Day, it started after the Civil War to commemorate all of the soldiers who had died during that conflict. During Memorial Day weekend; to honor fallen loved ones or ancestors who served in the armed forces, many people will visit national cemeteries and place an American flag on that family memberʼs grave. The knights of Columbus, being the patriotic organization that it is, annually take an active part in both Veterans and Memorial Day services; With 4th Degree Color Corps members marching in parades, and by forming an Honor Guard at Memorial Day services.
In keeping with a Remembrance Day theme, I plan on showing the video “Heroes Fund”, a K of C themed video that remembers one of the Orderʼs most noteworthy programs following the tragic events of 9-11.

Praying for Boston and Texas
Supreme Knight Carl Anderson issued
the following statement: "The thoughts
and prayers of the Knights of Columbus
are with all of those killed or injured in
the terror attack on the marathon in
Boston and in the fertilizer plant
explosion in West, Texas. May God
provide eternal rest to the deceased and
comfort to all those affected, and may all
of us be inspired by the witness and
courage of the emergency personnel and
bystanders who rushed to the aid of those
who were injured at the risk of their own
lives."

The Pope of the People
In taking his name from St. Francis of
Assisi, “the man of poverty,” and
identifying himself so closely with the
poor by his public acts and statements,
Pope Francis has shown himself to be
dedicated to charity. Through humble
and loving devotion to God and neighbor,
our new pope embodies the Gospel in
word and deed, and is truly "The Pope of
the People."

Committed to Charity
In taking his name from St. Francis of
Assisi, "the man of poverty," and
identifying himself so closely with the
poor by his public acts and statements,
the Holy Father has shown himself to be
dedicated to charity. The Knights of
Columbus, whose guiding principle is
charity, stands with Pope in this
dedication to serving those in need.
Throughout the world, Knights of
Columbus councils work to serve the
poor and needy in their communities.

Life insurance as a gift? The initial reaction for many people when you
mention life insurance as a gift is a quick step
back and a questioning stare. How morbid, they
may think quietly or aloud. While it may seem
that way when you first mention it, life insurance
is a really thoughtful gift that can be a financial
life preserver in tough times.
The problem with life insurance is the general
perception. Many think of life insurance only in
cases where someone dies. Life insurance should,
in fact, be thought of as a precautionary
protective measure for a family unit. The
purchase of this product can mean saving your
home, sending your children to college, and
preserving your spouse’s quality of life in the
event of your death.
One of the times you may want to purchase
life insurance for someone is when a family has a
new baby. It’s a great, low-cost way to set money
aside for the future (i.e. college tuition, housing,
business start-up, etc.). Of greater importance, it
ensures these children will have insurance as
adults, in case an illness later in life makes him or
her uninsurable.
Newlyweds are also ideal recipients for life
insurance. As they join their lives and financial
responsibilities, young couples need to make sure
that their early investments are fully protected. If
something were to happen to one of them, the
other may be faced with serious financial
hardship. A life insurance policy is an ideal way to
ensure their future and protect their assets.
As nontraditional as it may be, life insurance
is a wise and caring gift to purchase for many
people.
