Reflection:
Prayer of Abandonment
I will get up and go to my father, and I will say to
him, ‘Father, I have sinned against heaven and
before you; I am no longer worthy to be called
your son; treat me like one of your hired hands.’ ”
So he set off and went to his father. But while he
was still far off, his father saw him and was filled
with compassion; he ran and put his arms around
him and kissed him (Lk 15: 18–20).
Take, Lord, and receive all my liberty,
my memory, my understanding,
and my entire will,
All I have and call my own.
You have given all to me.
To you, Lord, I return it.
Everything is yours; do with it what you will.
Give me only your love and your grace,
that is enough for me.
St Ignatius of Loyola
Dear Parents / Carers, Congratulations to the ten year 6 students who were confirmed on Sunday. The children were a credit to their families and to Annunciation School. We are very proud of you. Many thanks to Mrs. Mary and Mrs Hall for the work that went into preparing the children, here at school, and to the parents at home. The children from Annunciation are always extremely respectful and reverent in the Church.
NEW ARRIVAL
We were all delighted to hear that Sarah, Christian and Alice welcomed a new son and brother, Ignatious Hubertus into their family on ANZAC Day, April 25th. Both mum and bub are well. VISIT TO BOTANICAL GARDENS Our visit to the Botanical Gardens was a wonderful day of learning for the children. All the children had a lesson from the teachers there at the gardens and participated fully in the activities that were offered. After lunch it was fitting that we got to visit the Shrine, which reinforced the learning about ANZAC Day that the children have undertaken over the last few weeks.

FAMILY WEEK CELEBRATIONS
As previously advised last week we will be having some celebrations for Family Week from 7th May to 11th May.
1. Monday 7th May – Heath McKenzie will be coming to run a session on how to draw cartoons. All parents and grandparents are invited to attend. It will commence at 3.30pm. and conclude at 5.00pm. (afternoon tea will be provided). Please fill in the reply slip at the bottom of newsletter and by Friday 4th May. Donations to Catholic Care, our own family welfare organisation, will be accepted on the day.
2. All grandparents are invited to attend a special whole school Mass at 10.00am. for our grandparents day celebrations. After Mass the children will be drawing their own comic super hero, and all grandparents are invited to join them. A gold coin donation for The Save the Children Foundation is all it takes to enter the comic super hero school competition.
It would be obvious to you that the staff is providing all family members with many opportunities to join with the students in learning situations. There are many benefits to children when mum, dad and other family members involve themselves in the children’s education. Not only is it fun to come along to school and share in the joy of learning together, but the bond between family members is strengthened. Children thrive on that type of attention and support. We all want children to thrive in their learning. It is a great support to your child when you have a good understanding of what their strengths and weaknesses are, what they like doing, what they find difficult, etc. Our teachers are experts in education and can help you understand how you can best assist your child’s learning. When we all gather and learn together, we are building a strong foundation for your child’s education. We hope that you take up the opportunities that are being provided for you.
