Dear JPIIA Parents,
It is hard to believe that we will turn the calendar to
May on Monday! We are in the final stretch but there
is still LOTS of learning to be done and some fun as
well.
This weekend, our 2nd graders will receive their First
Holy Communion. We congratulate them and bless
them. Please join us for the 10 am mass if you can on
Sunday.
Next Sunday, we celebrate another tradition. Annually,
each of our Catholic schools chooses one 8th grade
student to receive the Bishop Sklba Peacemaker
Award. I am happy to announce that Erin Kutsch will be
receiving this award, On May 7th, please join us at
the 10 am mass to see Erin receive her award.
Field Day is later this month as well. Please see the
colors inside the newsletter to plan a shirt for the day.
A huge thank you to Shaiann Howard for planning an
amazing week for our teachers this coming week. See
enclosed and watch the email reminders to help show
our teachers how much we support them.
Yes, May means skorts and shorts... uniform appropriate
please.
Blessings,
Mrs. Schumacher

Track
This year's RPAL track meet is scheduled for May 20th at
Case High School's Hammes Field beginning at 8 AM. Each
team is required to provide volunteers to perform an
assigned task to make the meet run smoothly. This year, we
are required to provide 4 volunteers to work admissions
beginning at 7:15 AM. If you can volunteer please contact
Mr. Peterson, our track coach,
at [email protected] or Mr. Andersen
at [email protected]. Thank you for you
help!
Cardinal Classic Basketball
As many may be aware we were unable to hold our annual Cardinal Classic basketball tournament this year due to a lack of volunteers.
We would like to continue this long-standing tradition because it is something much of the John Paul II Academy/ Sacred Heart communi-
ty often looks forward to and also serves as the Athletic Association's biggest fundraiser. In the past, the tournament was exclusive to 8th
grade teams but we are open to changing the format. We are aiming for a date in January for the tournament. At this time, we are looking
for someone to serve as the chair/coordinator of the tournament. Please contact Mr. Andersen at [email protected] if
you are willing to serve as next year's chair. The sooner we can solidify a chair, the sooner we can pinpoint a date and the more likely we
will be able to get teams in to make sure the tournament runs smoothly. Thank you!

Mrs. Klein The week of April 30 - May 6, 2017 has been declared
Safe Environment Week in the Archdiocese of Milwaukee.
#ServeWithLove
During Safe Environment Week we remember and celebrate our respect for each individual and their value as member’s of God’s family.
We embrace our responsibility to raise awareness regarding child abuse and reinforce the unacceptability of child abuse of any kind.
As the Archdiocese of Milwaukee states, “To know that we are children of God is to live in complete love, with deep abiding security and
the ability to dream, to sing, to create, to laugh, and to play without worry. As we grow older, we face a new reality--we cannot approach
all God’s creation with the same trust and confidence. We learn, through sometimes hurtful and damaging experiences, that some
people reject the ability that God gave them to love and respect others--they ignore God’s call. The Archdiocese of Milwaukee’s program
to safeguard children helps remind us of these very facts. With the help of this program, the faithful are guided and educated about the
responsibility of how to keep God’s children protected and safe.”
It is our moral responsibility as adults to protect possible victims of child abuse or neglect by reporting the suspected abuse of a minor to
the proper authorities or Child Protective Services.
Within your red folder this week, please find the following three things:
#ServeWithLove Poster Contest
#ServeWithLove Inspirational Image Contest
Safeguarding All of God’s Family Informational Brochure
Invitation to the Mass of Atonement
The Poster Contest and Inspirational Image Contest are open to all students attending John Paul II Academy. Entries are due May 12,
2017. Additional details and a complete list of entry rules can be found at www.archmil.org/sewrules.
Now, please take a moment to read the Safe Environment Week - Proclamation by the Archbishop of Milwaukee, Most Reverend Jerome
E. Listecki.
