The 2020 Crosscut Festival will officially begin with an opening night Keynote Event for festival attendees. Past opening night speakers have included Governor Jay Inslee (WA), Governor Kate Brown (OR) and former Secretary of Homeland Security Janet Napolitano. Breakout sessions help attendees connect with each other, discuss what they’ve been hearing/experiencing at the festival and allow for a more local take on the issues facing the Pacific Northwest than you may see on the larger stages. 2018 breakout sessions included a sustainability walking tour, gallery walk/Q+A with the artist and a local workshop on understanding political poll results. We are looking to add more breakout sessions with greater capacity for 2020.

In partnership with our sister organization, KCTS 9, Crosscut creates our own “black box studio” at the festival in which to film one on one interviews with high level speakers. These 15 minute interviews are aired in pairs for a 30 minute segment which airs on KCTS 9 in the months following the festival. Food trucks are available on the Seattle University Quad during the designated lunch break for the festival. In 2019 the food truck court was heavily attended, with the majority of attendees enjoying their lunch break in this area.
