NHS Evidencewww.evidence.nhs.ukIncorporating the National Library for Health

(NLH)NHS Evidence is a brand new website helping people find, access and use high-qualityclinical and non-clinical evidence and best practice. The creation of NHS Evidence wasannounced on June 30th 2008 as part of the High Quality Care for All report from LordDarzi, who stated that: All NHS Staff will have access to a new NHS Evidence servicewhere they will be able to get, through a single web-based portal, authoritative clinicaland non-clinical evidence and best practices.

Built around a powerful search engine, the service consolidates information from a widerange of sources in one central portal.

NHS Evidence is designed to meet the needs of users across the NHS clinicians, nurses, pharmacists and commissioners, among others.

NHS Evidence has just gone live and includes:

a fast, comprehensive search function access to a resource collating information on new drugs for commissioners links to resources previously branded as National Library for Health (NLH)

The service is provided by NICE and now encompasses what was known as theNational Library for Health. These resources are still available but have been rebrandedto fit in with the new NHS Evidence image. They can still be accessed directly throughwww.library.nhs.uk and you will still need your Athens password to access resources.

Additional functionality and content will be added in future versions of NHS Evidence,so watch this space, we will be the first to let you know.

Currently we have access from the AcuteTrust intranet to both adult and paediatricversions of the Isabel Diagnostic Checklistsystem. Isabel has also been successfullyused in top US hospitals to improvediagnosis quality and reduce clinical risk.

A Grand Rounds session featuring ademonstration of the system by the CEO ofIsabel Healthcare, Jason Maude, is to beheld on Thursday 21st May. So far wehave used Isabel as a teaching aid, but

Jason will show how the system can alsosignificantly impact on several of the currentDH policy priorities. Grand Rounds is in theCHEC Lecture Theatre from 1am 2pm.Everyone is welcome to attend.

Worcestershire is an early adopter of theMap of Medicine. The Worcestershire

The project has a number of clearlydefined objectives, including improvingcommunication links, making evidencebased practice accessible and facilitatingseamless care.

Work is continuing to plan themainstreaming of the system. When fullytrialled, the local Map will be accessible viasmartcards.
