STATEMENT

Gli oggetti che mi interessano appartengono ad una genealogia di situazioni: ordinarietà, banalità, mistero epoesia. In questo, il processo va contro ogni logica, dal punto di partenza fino al prodotto finale.Questa trasmissione indebolita testimonia in effetti una preferenza per una tempistica indefinita tra azioniirrisorie così come incongrui oggetti trovati. La mia pratica cerca inoltre di interrogare la relazione tra ilproprio impatto e lo spazio sociale in cui essa è imbrigliata. In tal senso, l'inserimento di elementi accidentalifunziona come estensione di differenti livelli di percezione. Il mio punto di vista è che questo spirito permettaa molti improbabili grovigli di assestarsi in un corredo semantico che smantella l'attenzione dello spettatoredi un gesto artistico.

The objects I’m interested in belong to a genealogy of situations: ordinariness, triviality, mystery and poetry.In this, the process goes against any logic, from the starting point to the outcome.This undermined transmission actually testifies a preference for an undefined timing between derisoryactions as well as incongruous found items. My practice also tries to question the relationship of its ownimpact in the social space where it's captured. In that sense, injecting accidental elements works like expanding the different levels of perception. My viewis that humor allows many improbable entanglements to fit in a semantic legacy which takes down theviewer’s attention of an artistic gesture.

La Galleria Tiziana Di Caro è orgogliosa di ospitare la prima mostra personale in Italia di Maxime Rossi(Parigi, 1980), intitolata Kemosabe, che inaugura sabato 28 settembre 2013 dalle ore 19:00 alle ore 22:00.

Le opere in mostra sono state realizzate nel 2013 e sono il risultato di un viaggio compiuto dall'artista aSedona, in Arizona, alla ricerca del fantomatico rifugio che fu di Max Ernst, il quale, negli anni Quaranta,visse in quelle zone con Dorothea Tanning, e vi realizzò alcune delle più rilevanti opere della suaproduzione.Kemosabe è il soprannome che è stato dato ironicamente a Maxime Rossi dalla persona che lo haaccompagnato in questa ricerca, ed è un termine che nella lingua dei nativi americani indica un "affidabileesploratore".Kemosabe è, quindi, l'artista che trasforma la galleria avvolgendone una porzione di spazio in un wallpaper(Blue Parrot Canyon, 2013), che riproduce, ingigantendola, una cianotipia raffigurante il canyon nella zona incui è collocato il rifugio. Tale è la maestosità del paesaggio da far sì che gli elementi architettonici inquadratinell'immagine si perdano, invitando lo spettatore a fare uno sforzo per individuarli.Il canyon è la quinta entro cui si stagliano quattro sculture in ceramica, figure in parte austere, che ricalcanole forme di alcune delle maschere realizzate da Ernst a Sedona, e al contempo grottesche perché sono ilrisultato di strani accoppiamenti: Pineapple Aries (Ariete Ananas), Orange Bird (Uccello Arancia), Pear Fish(Pesce Pera), Banana Rat (Ratto Banana).Un bassorilievo, per lo più in carta, riproduce ancora una porzione di paesaggio, questa volta accennando laterza dimensione e celando elementi di un'abitazione sommersa dalla vegetazione. Maxime Rossi insistesull'ipotesi di svelare il luogo di Max Ernst, e ancora una volta la sua presenza ci viene solo sussurrata: nonsono le persone a raccontarci una storia, bensì i luoghi, strutture utopiche che suggeriscono presenze.In occasione dell'inaugurazione, una serie di componimenti poetici ha accompagnato lo spettatore durante lavisita, con una performance vocale scritta da Maxime Rossi ed interpretata da Eddy Palescandolo, che va acompletare l'enigma di una storia, solo in parte accennata, e resa ancor più misteriosa da oggetti, inclusi nelpercorso espositivo, la cui forma, arricchita da dirette citazioni da Victor Vasarely, induce alla ricerca disignificati, che entro i confini della mostra non saranno mai rivelati.

Galleria Tiziana Di Caro is delighted to host Kemosabe, the first solo exhibition in Italy by Maxime Rossi(Paris, 1980), opening Saturday 28 September 2013, 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The works in the exhibition were created in 2013 and are the result of a journey made by the artist inSedona, Arizona, in search of the elusive shelter where Max Ernst lived with Dorothea Tanning in the 1940s,and where he created some of his most important works.Kemosabe is the nickname ironically given to Maxime Rossi by the person who accompanied him in thisresearch, and which in the language of Native Americans means "reliable explorer".Kemosabe is, therefore, the artist himself who transforms the gallery by covering a portion of it with a giantwallpaper work (Blue Parrot Canyon, 2013), the reproduction of a cyanotype depicting the canyon’s areawhere the shelter is. Such is the majesty of the landscape that the architectural elements included in theimage are lost, thus inviting the viewer to make an effort to locate them.The canyon is the side scene in which four ceramic sculptures stand, figures partly austere, inspired by theshapes of some of the masks created by Ernst in Sedona, and partly grotesque as a result of strangeassociations: Pineapple Aries, Orange Bird, Pear Fish, Banana Rat.A bas-relief, mostly made of paper, again reproduces a portion of a landscape, this time hinting at the thirddimension and at the elements of a dwelling concealed by vegetation. Maxime Rossi keeps alluding to thehidden dwelling’s location, the presence of which is once again only whispered: the story is not told bypeople but by the places, utopian structures which suggest a presence.On the occasion of the opening, a series of poems accompanied the visitor during the journey, with a vocalperformance written by Rossi and played by Eddy Palescandolo that complements the obscurity of a storywhich is only barely alluded to, and made even more mysterious by the objects included in the exhibitionpath, whose shape, enriched with direct quotes from Victor Vasarely, lead to the quest for a meaning whichwithin the bounds of the exhibition will never be revealed.
