• Write their name and surname using the correct formation.

• Practise letter formation - holding the pencil correctly trace over and copy

letters .

• Recognise capital letters and match to lower case letters.

• Practise phonic recognition of phase 2 and 3 sounds—flashcards, Teach your

• Practise reading and spelling tricky words— words in B-link book, Spelling Blast on J2E.

• Bug Club book practice—read a book from allocated list and answer the questions.

Who? Why? When? How? Where?

then segmenting sounds – tin ,robot talk what sounds can we hear t -i – n).

• Find rhyming words in stories—can they think of words that rhyme. Play rhyming and alliteration games, make

up silly sentences using the same sound “Silly Simon squashed a sausage” Think about what word sounds like

cat? Put a timer on a see how many you can think of – nonsense words are fun too!

• Keep a diary. Write a sentence about what you’ve enjoyed learning about every day. Ask your child to say the

sentence out loud and sound out each word as they write it. Remind them about capital letters to start, fingers

spaces and a full stop at the end. Draw a picture to illustrate your writing.

• Can they copy your writing? Words they find around the house/on the fridge/on the TV/on books?

• Make up a story and write it on Jit (HWB).
