Math Binder

Need to Know: My binder tends to get huge throughout the year! I keep my place using binder clips

and my teacher reference bookmarks (free in my TPT store)

I keep my binder at my small group table at all times so I’m always ready to take notes on the kiddos.

Begin with a 4” three-ring binder with a clear cover! I hole-punch and laminate my covers and dividers so I am able to reuse them.

My binders are divided as follows: 1. Standards & Pacing Guide

A copy of my pacing guide (you can find my blank template for free in my TPT store) A copy of the CCSS, state, and county standards.

2. Resources A LOT of amazing stuff that I’ve found on TPT! Math (I’m new to guided math so bear with me!)-

i. Other printables that I use to help plan ii. Strategies

Reading- i. Bloom’s Question Cards / Thinking Stems ii. Other printables that I use to help plan iii. Reading Correlation Chart iv. Strategies v. Book Charts (I have all of my Reading A-Z books and my guided reading book titles

organized by skill and level in a chart for easy book selection)

3. Assessment (LOTS of stuff!) Reading –

i. A copy of my county’s assessment schedule ii. Student Reading Level Chart (Free in my TPT Store) iii. Scholastic Phonics Survey (1 copy of the record forms for each student and 1

class copy of the ‘student materials’) iv. Words Their Way Spelling Inventory (1 copy of the Inventory Feature Guide

Tapas! I couldn’t live without this, it’s a definite MUST buy) *Running Records: I have a composition book with Post-It tabs for each student. I take weekly informal running records for each student on large Post-It notes and then stick

them onto their page in the book for easy documentation. Math- (I’m new at guided math, so bear with me as I add to my binder!)

i. A copy of my county’s assessment schedule ii. Yearlong Skills Interview Assessment (1 copy of the teacher packet, 1 copy

of paper and pencil assessments per student) iii. MY ABSOLUTELY AMAZING ASSESSMENT PACK FROM Teaching and

Tapas! I couldn’t live without this, it’s a definite MUST buy)

4.Math Small Groups or Guided Reading A copy of my centers/math tub activities organized by standard

*I plan everything in weekly chunks! I separate and label each week with a small Post-It note!

I have copies of each of the following for every week: Literacy Centers Schedule or Math Tubs schedule

(where I keep track of what centers I’m doing that week) Group Roster (I do flexible grouping so here is where I plan what group my kiddos are in) Lesson Plan (I use 1 copy of my Lesson Plan Template (found in this packet) for each group)

TA DAH And that’s my binder! Questions? Comments? Ideas? Let me know!

I love seeing how other teachers organize their binders!
