Rational Number

A rational number is a number that can be written as the ratio of two integers in which the denominator is not zero.

Examples

Repeating Decimal

A decimal whose digits repeat in groups of one or more.

Terminating Decimal

A decimal whose digits end.

0.2-1.34511/20 = 0.55

Notes

Rational Numbers come from the root word “RATIO” or numbers that can be written as a comparison of two integers.

Fractions (ratios) are rational numbers.

Decimals that end or repeat can be written as fractions and are rational numbers.
