the true story. 1. read and listen to the “true” story. same or Different?

The King is simply mad about new clothes and stops in at the royal Tailor’s shop a dozen times a day. He loves gorgeous suits and cloaks and fur-lined boots. Clothes come first, his people last. His obsession makes him cruel. He even turns a man into margarine! The people don’t like him. a dozen brainy men formulate a plan. -“i’ve got a wizard plan. please come with me. We’ll all go and see the royal Tailor.” The next time the King stops in, the Tailor tells him about some marvellous new cloth from Tibet. -“oh majesty, it’s magical. it’s divine: it keeps you warm even in the icy cold”- the tailor says. “i want the lot”, says the king. This is good news for the King because he enjoys skiing, he orders the Tailor to make him a ski suit of this material. He asks to see it. -”Where ?-”it’s in my hands, oh King, right here!” “it is invisible to fools and ghouls”, says the tailor.-”you’re wise and bright, i’m sure it glistens in your sight”, adds the tailor. Then the dozen brainy men come in and praise the unseen cloth.-”oh what lovely stuff! We want some too,” they say. The King falls for their trick. “oh, isn’t it divine? i want it all! it’s mine!it’s mine!” i want a ski-ing outfit.” -”oh majesty, you lucky lad! you’ll feel so cosy in he snow with temps at zero and below!”. The next day the Tailor comes to outfit the King in his new skiing suit. They tell him that he doesn’t need any undergarments, so he strips naked. The men are smart and turn up the central heating, the King sweats and believes he is wearing the warm cloth. Just then the Queen and her ladies arrive.”look at my marvellous ski-ing clothes!”, he shouts. some ladies blush but some others enjoy the pleasures of looking at the “royal treasures.” The King then cries, “now i’m off to ski! you ladies want to come with me?” and heads for the mountain, outside it’s freezing. in half an hour he is frozen solid and the people all cheer up.Heigh-ho The King’s deep frozen in the snow!

FINAL TASK OPTION B. LIGHTS, CAMERA, ACTION - MOCK TV ADVERTISEMENTS

www.youtube.com/watch?v=loynqcsksdg

the story doesn’t say what happened to the swindlers. probably, they started a fashion company somewhere and they advertise their material and suits on tv and radio. in groups, prepare mock advertisements for the incomparable material and the wonderful suit.

Watch the following video and design a mock advertisement for one of the models. (remember you must try to sell the item of clothing)

Did you know that wearable tech is the new fashion?

nowadays, designers hope to create clothing that’s not only ready- to- wear but ready- to- think and perhaps communicate. Take for example the case of the Build your own Bag (ByoB), a handbag that can sense when you pick it up, evaluate the contents, shout “keys missing” and download the weather forecast. another company is trying to develop e-textiles with conductive fibers. The possibilities? Everything: uniforms that can monitor a soldier’s location and vital signs, and also provide real camouflage - morphing from jungle to bricks to desert patterns, T-shirts with video monitors on the back, etc.
