Importance of TechnologyTechnology plays an important role in almost every aspect of our lives, so why wouldnt we take advantage of its benefits in the classroom? It is important that teachers incorporate technology in their lessons because it reaches different learning styles and allows students to look at the content in a different way. Although triangles may seem like a simple concept to 10th graders, the content of this unit is the foundation to many math concepts in the future. Integrating technology will make this lesson both more fun and more engaging for students.

I really liked how this blog had its own section on technology and stressed the importance of it! One of the articles discussed Kahoot which is a website that takes assessments to a whole new level! MathTrain.tv provides countless podcast episodes looking at many different topics in math. This would be very beneficial in the classroom because it gives students the content in a different way from a different voice. Although, as the teacher, it is your job to teach the material to the students, sometimes it helps to hear it in different words. This podcast gives the opportunity to repeat the information taught in the lesson, with the possibility that more students will understand the content than before. Watching this specific podcast gives students a more concrete way to visualize triangles and their angle measurements.

Inspiration Worksheet

I created the worksheet shown above using the Inspiration program. The worksheet could be used as extra practice in class, a homework assignment, or an entrance/exit activity to check on the students understanding of the concept. This technological program allows teachers to use their imagination and create any worksheet or activity they want. Inspiration is helpful tool for not only teachers, but for students as well. Teachers could make an assignment focused around the Inspiration program, for example, having their students create their own study sheet with all the different kinds of triangles, labeled with their name and definition. Subject-Specific Internet Resources (cont.)Khan Academy is a free math site that offers exercises and instructional videos that allows students to learn at their own pace both inside and outside the classroom. This website is well organized with a range of all subjects that filter down to the specifics of each content unit.For this unit on triangles, I would use the practice problems throughout my lesson in class. I would ask my students to work on other problems for homework as well as watch a Khan Academy video on the topic.

Uses of the Internet Online Reference MaterialsEncyclopediaThe Encyclopedia online reference can provide information on almost anything you can think of!I used the Encyclopedia and discovered a song about classifying triangles. I think Web Poster Wizard gives all students the opportunity to succeed when it comes to completing projects and assignments.I would utilize Web Poster Wizard in my classroom because I remember when I was young and was assigned a poster project, I set myself up for failure before even trying. I knew I wasnt artistic or creative so I had it in my mind I wouldnt do well. I never want my students to feel like that I think this website gives students a great opportunity to succeed by using their imaginations and completing assignments to the best of their ability, without feeling like they need to be artistic or creative to do well.
