INSTALLATION

1. Remove power screws and lift off cover.

Remove Old Control Unit 2. Remove wire cover.

DANGER

HAZARD OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, BURN, OREXPLOSION

• This equipment must be installed andserviced only by qualified electricalpersonnel.

• Turn off all power supplying this equipmentbefore working on or inside equipment.

• Always use a properly rated voltage sensingdevice to confirm power is off.

• Replace all devices, doors and covers beforeturning on power to this equipment.

Failure to follow this instruction will result indeath or serious injury.

3. Remove screws and lift control unit.

Install New Control Unit 4. Remove wire cover.

5. Connect wires, matching phases.

If replacement control unit has different featuresthan old control unit, terminal block (secondarydisconnects) on the circuit breaker and/or cradlemay have to be added or removed. Contactfactory for more information.

Neutral plug is only available on4-pole circuit breaker or 3-pole circuitbreaker with external neutral sensorconnection.

CAUTIONHAZARD OF EQUIPMENT DAMAGE

Connect wires to match phase sequence(N, 1, 2, or 3) between trip unit and circuitbreaker.

TESTING

This is an instantaneous tripping test (trips inless than one second) using a single-phaseprimary current injection between the line andload of each pole of the circuit breaker.

This tests the connection of thecurrent sensor to the control unitonly. This test is not designed tocalibrate the circuit breaker .Calibration tests are completedat the factory before shipping eitherthe circuit breaker or the control unitalone.

Test control unit according to the appropriate

table:• STR18M: see table 1• STR28D: see table 2• STR38S, STR58U
