Beidh ár Cruinniú Cinn Bliana againn i Mí Eanáir/ Feabhra 2017 Máistir Gaoithe Community Alert was set up in 1993. The group is actively involved in the community, we help our elderly in applying for funding for social security alarms. These alarms are connected to a Central Monitoring Centre in Cork, whereby should any person who holds one, have any mishaps, the Monitoring Centre will contact the named persons on their alarm system. It’s very reassuring for the person and their relatives. Presently we have 22 social security alarms installed in homes. This year Community Alert together with Community Care had some interior emergency lights fitted into a number of homes of the elderly. The text alert system is working very well in the community. Up to 50 households signed up to it, we are very pleased with the response. The system works whereby Grapevine sends out the text message to the people on their mailing list should there be any suspicious vehicles or activities in the Dromid area or beyond. Persons can sign up to it at any given time by giving their name, mobile number and membership fee of €10 to June Collins. In May we had presentations made to two outgoing committee officers Bridie O’Sullivan and Helen O’Sullivan. We will be holding our A.G.M. in Jan/Feb 2017, date to be confirmed. Tá Comhrá Gaeilge ar siúl in Ionad na Dromoda gach Luan ó 7.30-8.30 do leanaí agus daoine fásta. Tá fior fáilte roimh tuismitheoirí agus daoine ón ceantar chomhmaith.Tá an seirbhís seo saor in aisce. Tá Brían Ó Riordáin i bhfeighil an comhrá agus na tuismitheoirí ag cabhrú leis.

Conversational Irish classes are held in Ionad na Dromoda every Monday night beginning again on Monday January 9th 2017. The class will run from 7.30 – 8.30 for all children and adults. Parents and all interested people are very welcome to attend. This service is free of charge.

There are two people employed in our community office, Cáit Uí Chonaill as Manager and Máire Uí Shuilleabháin as Secretary and we have a third assistant on a CE Scheme Theresa Garvey who is a very

helpful addition to the staff.

The office is open from 9.00 -5.00, five days a week. The public are welcome to come in and use our photocopier, fax, scanner or any other services while the office is open, we will also assist people with filling out forms and so on.

Tá bun chlubna Dromoda ar an bhfód le ceithre bhliain anuas. Is é an aidhm atá againn ná an Ghaoluinn a chur chun cinn i measc na n-óg i gceantar na Dromoda. Chun an sprioc sin a bhaint amach, bíonn imeachtaí éagsúla á dhéanamh againn tré Ghaoluinn gach Mhí ag tosnú i Mí Deireadh Fómhair. I measc na nithe a bhíonn á

An gardín nua ag an Áis Cúram Leanaí

Cúram Leanaí na DromodaBhí an bliain atá imithe go maith agus i Mí Méan Fómhair thosnaigh téarma nua le ochtar cláraithe sa naíolann agus grúpa mór againn sa Naíonra taímid tosnaithe leis an dhá bhliain (free preschool) ó Mí Meán Fómhair 2016. Tá grúpa deas ag teacht go dtí an tSeirbhís Iarscoile, ó 2 go dtí a 3 gach tráthnóna i rith na seachtaine. Tá ranganna ealaíona agus cocaireacht na Nollag ar siúl faoi láthair ó 3 go dtí 5 tráth-nóna amháin agus tá na leanaí ag baint taith-neamh mór as seo. Bhí Disco Samhain againn san Halla Pobal agus bhí timpeall 40 páistí ag freastal ann. Bhí ann sport ag na bpáistí agus bhí siad ag lorg Disco na Nollag. Comhghairdeas fresin do Sarah agus Daniel, Marie agus Eoin a phós i rith na Bliana. Ba mhaith liom buíochas a gabháil do gach duine a thug cabhair duinn i rith na mblianta, Cáit agus Máire, na fír ar na Scéimeanna difiriúla, an Comhcoiste, IRD an Coireán agus go mó rmhór na tuismitheoirí atá ag usáid na seirbhísí go léir.

There are 21 families availing of the Dromid Childcare services at present. We have 8 children registered in the Crèche this year, 11 in the Naíonra with more joining after Christmas and 8 in the After-School Service. We are busier this year with the 2 years free preschool in place since September. We are running arts and crafts and baking classes for Christmas and the children are enjoying

those. We had a Halloween Disco which was great fun, we had 40 children in attendance. The children enjoyed it so much that we are planning one for Christmas!The work in the garden is complete and now ready for the children. A big thank you to all the staff on the CE and Rural Social Schemes who completed the garden work for us. Congratulations to Sarah and Daniel who got married earlier on this year and also to Marie and Eoin who married in September. I would like to thank all the staff Máire ní Mhathuna, Máire Ní Chonchuir, Sarah Ní Shé, Bríd Uí Braonáin, and the staff on schemes Louise Ní Mhóráin agus Cáit Uí Chonchuir for their service to the Childcare Facility
