Marinas are beautiful decorations of coastal cities, where powerboats and evenmore attractive sailing boats are berthed, and resting on clear blue water. Thescene is even more romantic when powerboats are speeding and sailboats aresailing like white butterflies, while the crews enjoy the romantic scenery. Thepeople working in marinas, are taking care of them, ensure this allure and

romanticism. Unfortunately, marinas do not have only a romantic side, but in the process of maintenance and repair of these elegant vessels, the waste product like waste oil, waste paints, waste plastic solids and heavy metals from protectivecoatings are generated. All these waste materials pollute the water and destroysthe natural environment and sea life. The managements of marinas are aware ofthese dangers and try to prevent the pollution of the marine environment, but withold and inappropriate technology this is very difficult.PAVAN EKOLOGIJA has developed very efficient technological solutions for thepurification of waste and rain waste water using highly efficient over ground and under ground PAVAN MASTER-PACK separators which purify waste water, inaccordance with European regulations, and the purified waste water can be released directly into the sea. These highly efficient separators can be also used for the purification of polluted rain wasted water that accumulates on opensurfaces in marinas, such as parking spots for boats, cars parking lots, piers, etc.

The highly efficient separator with additional ultra filtration is used to purify wastewater in workshops, washing facilities, repair and maintenance shops and boatpainting shops. Waste water contaminated with oil, grease, solids and varioustoxic substances and heavy metals is purified and can be discharged into thenatural environment of the sea or it can be reused as technological and processwater for various uses.

ENJOY A CLEAN SEA AND A HEALTHY ENVIRONMENT.

THE USABILITY OF SEPARATORSPAVAN EKOLOGIJA d.o.o. was established with the purpose of bringing to thedemanding market, high quality and high e cient gravitational self-cleaningseparators to separate oil, grease and solids from industrial, technological waste water.HIGHLY EFFICIENT PAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATORS are designed according toour own patents and technology, which is meeting the strictest international standardsEN 1858. UL 42 and API 421. Installation and use of the highly e cient MASTER-PACKSEPARATORS manufactured by PAVAN EKOLOGIJA d.o.o. is the most economical andthe safest solution for waste water treatment of industrial and rain waste water. Wastewater, treated with this method, can be discharged directly into the naturalenvironment or to the sewage system. A ordable price and simple maintenance aretwo more reasons to use our separators, which do not require expensive electricity, expensive chemicals, expensive biological substances and expensive maintenance. The main users and sites, where highly e cient PAVAN MASTER-PACKSEPARATORS or other types of separators with equal or better characteristics shouldbe used are: taverns, restaurants, hotels, crude oil land lls and the surrounding area, oilre neries, oil products manufacturers, warehouses and waste sites for oil products, transporters for oil products, gas stations, harbors, ships, marinas, roads, highways, airports, railway stations, car washes, repair shops, garages and larger car parking lots, mechanical workshops, electrical power stations, transformer, manufacturers of metaland plastic products, foundries, mines, quarries, land lls, military stations and manyothers. Old models of gravity separators without or with ine cient small coalescers areinstalled at the majority of those sites. It i s unacceptable that these separators are stillinstalled into new projects. This kind of separators cannot purify the waste water, whichwas polluted with oil, grease and solids, according to the required European norms of10 milligrams of oil per liter of water or to oil droplets of 40 microns. Installation of oldmodels of gravity separators is a missed and dangerous investment for the naturalenvironment.

A number of older, technologically outdated separators could be improved by installing

in highly e cient PAVAN COALESCER with suitable ba es. Years of experience ofPAVAN PRODUCT on international markets have help us to develop separators, whichare capable of purifying the waste water polluted with oil, greasy and solids accordingthe European standards. PAVAN SEPARATORS are simple for maintenance and service. We will be happy to respond to your call and help you solve your problems with waste waters.SEPARATORS WITHOUT LARGE EFFICIENT COALESCERS ARE LIKE CARS WITHOUTENGINES.

OPERATION OF THE HIGHLY EFFICIENTGRAVITATIONAL PAVAN MASTER-PACK OIL,GREASE, WATER AND SOLIDS SEPARATORWaste water contaminated with oil, grease and solids runs into the separator tank 9 through the waste water inlet valve 1. The diffuser 2 attached to the front side ofthe separator tank 9 changes the direction and velocity of the waste water flow. Inthe inlet section of the separator in front of the coalescer 4 rough separation of oil, grease and solids is performed. Separators without an efficient coalescerimplement only a rough separation up to 150 microns of droplets, according EUnorm should be purified to the size of oil droplets up to 40 microns. During the process of rough separation the larger droplets of oil and grease rise to the watersurface, and the large solids sink to the tapered bottom of the separator tank 9. The flow of waste water continues through the corresponding perforated baffle 3.

    CALCULATION OF THE HYDRAULIC DIAMETER DhDh = 4P 4 x (0,15 x 4,5)

    == 0,29O0,30 + 9

0,675 dm29.3 dmP = the surface area of flow unit in the coalescerO = the circumference of the flow unit in the coalescer

The Reynolds number RE = 129 is very good, and it proves a calm flow of wastewater in the coalescer. The calculation of the REYNOLDS number is the second important factor forproving the efficiency of the PAVAN MASTER-PACK separator.

A slow and evenly distributed flow of waste water runs into the highly efficientcoalescer 4 containing stainless steel plates installed in the frame at an angle of50. This allows oil and grease droplets to coalesce on the lower plate surfaces toa larger drops and then rise to the upper edge of the plate and from there float to the water surface, as shown by arrows 21. Smaller solids fall on the upper platesurfaces and from there sink to the tapered bottom of the separator tank.Oil, grease and solids fine separation is carried out in the coalescer 4 according tothe STOCK'S Law. The purified waste water in coalescer 4 flows out from theseparator guided by oil baffle 10 and lower baffle 22 toward the adjustable device7 and the outlet valve 20. The old separators without an efficient coalescerperform only a rough oil, grease separation, making them i nefficient, becausewaste water is purified much lower than is allowed by current European norms. The PAVANs oil, grease, water, and solids separators are five times moreefficient than old separators without coalescer.

OIL, GREASE AND SOLIDS REMOVAL FROM THEHIGHLY EFFICIENTSEPARATOR.The removal of oil and grease collected on the water surface in the separator is carried out in two ways. The first method is the automatic adjustment of oil andgrease removal from the separator. With the adjustable device 7 we can set the operating water level 5 millimetersbelow the oil collecting container 6. This allows an approximately 5 millimetersthick oil, grease layer floating on the water surface. All the subsequently collectedoil and grease will automatically flow from the collecting container 6 to the oil andgrease reservoir 5 at the rear part of the separator. Oil and grease from reservoir5 are discharged into the outer container through valve 19.The second way of oil and grease removal from the separator consists ofmonitoring the amount of collected oil and grease on the water surface throughopening flap 17 on the cover 19. When thicker oil and grease layer floats on thewater surface, water level is manually adjusted with the water level adjustabledevice 7. The water level in the separator rises and the collected oil and greaseare discharged through the collecting container 6 to the oil and grease reservoir 5.When all the collected floating oil and grease is discharged, the water level returnsto its starting position, and the highly efficientPAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATOR is ready for reuse.

CLEANING THE COALESCER AND REMOVING SOLIDS AND MUD FROM THE SEPARATOR. VR is the same as the Mhd or the minimal lifting rise velocity of small oil droplets, whichwas calculated before.

The above equation is used to calculate the diameter of small oil droplets, which will besuccessfully separated by the e cient PAVAN MASTER-PACK coalescer.

The coalescer 4 and the separator tank 9 are occasionally cleaned by closing thewaste water intake valve 1. The coalescer 4 is lifted up and the plate and theseparator tank are then rinsed with a jet of hot water. Solids and mud are discharged from separator tank 9 through the dischargevalves 11 into the external container. The collected oil and grease in reservoir 5are discharged through the outlet oil and grease valve 19. The highly efficient separator is prepared for reuse by opening the intake waste water valve 1 wastewater level is rising to the operating level. If an additional water level regulation isnecessary, this can be done using the adjustable device 7.

THIS CALCULATION IS THE MOST IMPORTANT FACTOR FOR PROVING THE OILSEPARATION EFFICIENCY OF THE SEPARATOR.D= 18 x Vr18 x 0,008545 x0,019== 0,0040cm = 40 microns

Gx ( v o )981 x 0,18D = 40 microns or substituted with the amount of oil left in the puri ed water is 8milligrams per lliterWaste water, puri ed in such a way, can be discharged into the sewage system ordirectly into the natural environment. It is a well known fact that the world standards for puri cation of waste water are becoming stricter and that polluted water will have to be puri ed better than it is today. The use of PAVAN MASTER-PACK separators is an investment into the future, since theypurify the waste water a lot better than required by current standards. All old andine cient separators in use today will have to be updates to increase their e ciency, orreplaced with new separatorsTHE CALCULATION OF THE WASTE WATER FLOW CONDITION IN THE COALESCER,EXPRESSED WITH THE REYNOLDS EQUATIONRE = Dh V V 0,29 0,3 1== 129

Ultra filtration is used for further purification of waste water that was purifiedin the highly efficient PAVAN MASTER-PACK separator, especially for thepurification of emulsion substances, such as PCB detergents, pesticides, bacteria, heavy metals and many other contaminants.

A very successful process is the combination of waste water purification inthe highly efficient PAVAN MASTER-PACK separators as the first stageand ultra filtration of this water as the second stage. Water purified in thismanner can be reused as recycled water in marinas, car washing facilities, dry cleaners and so many other places.FLAT PLATES cos 50 =1,5h

THE CALCULATION OF THE OIL DROPLETS REMOVAL EFFICIENCYFROM WaEST WATER IN THE PAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATORThe efficiency of the oil droplets removal is calculated according to the STOCKlaw for gravitational separation. It is expressed with the following equation:VR = G

OPERATION OF THE PROGRAMMED FILTRATIONDEVICE FOR MICROFILTRATION OF ALREADY PURIFIED WATER IN THEPAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATORThe purified water in the PAVAN MASTER-PACK separator flows into the ultrafiltration device through pipe 1 into the centrifugal pump 2 and from pump 2 through pipe 3 into the programmed valves 4 and into the ultra filters 5. From the ultra filters 5 the purified water flows through the programmed valve 6 into theoutlet pipe 7 and outlet valve 8 into the collecting reservoir. The ultra filter 5 is

cleaned by the reverse flow of purified water through filter 5. This is achieved bysuitable programming of the opening and closing of the automatic valve 6 and twovalves 11, so that the clean water washes the membranes in the ultra filters 5. The contaminated water flows out through the outlet silt valves 11 and outlet pipe 12into the separator 15. The cleaning process of membranes in micro filters 5 iscarried out automatically.

ADVANTAGES OF HIGH EFFICIENT PAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATORS1. The biggest advantage of PAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATORS is that they

purify waste water according to the required European standards (or even better), which can be discharged into the sewage system or into the naturalenvironment.

    2. Simple cleaning and maintenance of the highly efficient separator, easy maintenance and low cos.

    3. The quality of the PAVAN MASTER-PACK SEPARATORS is emphasized bythe fact that they are manufactured from stainless steel, which guarantees long use, excellent hygiene, cleanliness of the working environment and years-longwarranty.

    4. A very successful combination for complete purification of waste water with oil, grease and solids, emulsified substances (such us detergents, pcb, pesticides), heavy metals and many other contaminants is achieved bycombining gravitational separation of oil , grease and solids in PAVAN HIGHLYEFFICIENT MASTER-PACK separators and ULTRA FILTRATION as secondstage for removal of emulsified substances and other contaminants

FIVE OF THE MOST IMPORTANT QUESTIONS, WHICH EVERY SELLERAND MANUFACTURER OF SEPARATORS SHOULD ANSWER.1. Whether the separation of oil, grease and solids is implemented in the

separator, without the coalescer or in a separator with highly efficient coalescer.

    2. What is the velocity of the waste water flow in the separator and whether it hasperforated baffles, which reduce the velocity of the flow.Old separators3 m/min.PAVAN MASTER-PACK0.3 m/min.

    3. The mathematical calculation according to the STOCK law for the calculationof oil removal efficiency of the separator, with the minimum size of oil droplets.Old separators150 microns.PAVAN MASTER-PACK40 microns.

    4. What is the REYNOLDS number, which determines whether the flow of wastewater is turbulent or l inear.Old separatorRE = 800 turbulent and over.PAVAN MASTER-PACKRE = 129 linear.

    5. What is the ratio between the maximum waste water flow in the separator and flat plate area, expressed in liters of the water on a square meter of the platesurface area.Old separators50 l/m2PAVAN MASTER-PACK10 l/m2.
