M.Ed Programme Structure: An Overview
• Coursework with Master’s Project (formerly referred to as Option 2)
- 11 core education courses (33 credits)

• Coursework with Concentration (formerly referred to as Option 3)

2 PARTS
Part I : CORE EDUCATION COURSEWORK (33 credits) Students are required to take 11 taught courses and obtain a CGPA of at least 2.90 for the 10 courses (except Directed Reading).
Part 2 : *MASTER’S PROJECT (9 credits) Students are required to work on a research project under the guidance of a supervisor appointed by OUM. The completed research project will be assessed by the supervisor and a reviewer.
Students may apply to take 3 additional taught courses in lieu of Master’s Project. Students can make the application in the 4th semester of their studies.

Master’s Project
Duration for Master’s Project:
Minimum: 2 semesters
Maximum: 8 semesters.
Student must hand in the Master’s Project, latest, by the end of the 8th semester, failing which the student will be given a grade “F” and he/she must re-register for Master’s Project, which involves the payment of full fees. This policy takes effect from May 2014.
Students may apply to take 3 additional taught courses in lieu of Master’s Project. The three courses offered are Educational Administration, Sociology of Education and Educational Leadership

SELF-MANAGED LEARNING (90 hours - 75%)
Study independently according to time availability.

SCHEDULED SEMINARS (15 hours per course - 12.5%)
Conducted by facilitators (professors/experts in the industry). Seminars are held at LCs 5 times per semester (3 hours per seminar per course).
ONLINE COLLABORATIVE LEARNING (15 hours – 12.5%)

Online Learning Mode
This option is offered to candidates who is unable to attend seminars or FEL is unable to offer the programme in a particular learning centre
Learners will get an online facilitator specially assigned to him/ her for the online courses
Learners will communicate with this ‘facilitator’ through online forum myInspire
Learners will submit continuous assessment (assignments) to this facilitator and take the final examination in learning centres of their choice
