The AmeriCorps members will be responsible for improving educational and behavioral outcomes for 500 public school students in low-achieving elementary, middle, magnet, and high schools. In addition, the AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 500 volunteers annually who will be engaged in Springfield College's "Humanics in Action Day," when classes are suspended for students to join with community volunteers to provide neighborhood services in response to identified needs. Program Summary The Student Conservation Association's (SCA) proposes to have 26 AmeriCorps members who will increase statewide environmental stewardship by: providing environmental education to underserved rural schools in Western MA; by providing environmental literacy training at state parks throughout the state. The AmeriCorps members will be responsible for teaching environmental principles to over 3,000 youth and adults, and for providing critical conservation stewardship services to over 75 miles and 35 acres of at-risk ecosystems within Massachusetts. In addition, these AmeriCorps members will leverage an additional 200 volunteers who will be engaged in conservation service projects throughout the state designed to restore and enhance our public lands.

Program Summary Mass Mentoring Partnership (MMP) proposes to have 25 full time AmeriCorps members placed at mentoring program host sites across the state. Each AmeriCorps member will build the capacity of its mentoring program host site by implementing evidence-based practices. At the end of the program year, AmeriCorps members will have effectively recruited and retained mentors, improved programmatic processes and systems and expanded the number of high quality mentoring relationships for at-risk youth and youth of color across the state. In addition, AmeriCorps members will have leveraged an additional 350 volunteers to engage in high quality mentoring relationships with youth. The CNCS investment of $307,370 will be matched with $335,981 of private funding.

AmeriCorps members will be responsible for improving student performance in math and literacy.The program will address the CNCS focus area of education, specifically improving educational outcomes for economically disadvantaged children and supporting economically disadvantaged students in preparing for success in post-secondary educational institutions. This is an application for the AmeriCorps Partnership Challenge, so no funding is requested from CNCS. The Match Foundation, Inc. and its sub-grantees will commit approximately $3,277,595 each year to implement the program.

Program Summary The United Way of Massachusetts Bay and Merrimack Valley (UWMB) proposes to have 25 AmeriCorps members who will provide intensive tutoring and academic support services to English Language Learners (ELLs) across schools and community based organizations in the cities of Lynn and Salem, MA. At the end of the first program year, 400 ELLs will show increased academic performance in ELA and/or Math, as well as increased academic engagement. The program will focus on the Corporation for National & Community Service (CNCS) funding priority area of education. The CNCS investment of $339,464 will be matched with $352,611 from UWMB private funding.

Program Summary UTEC will have 18 AmeriCorps members who will support low-income, high-risk youth as they seek social and economic success in Lowell, Massachusetts. At the end of the first program year, the AmeriCorps members will be responsible for serving 350 youth total, with 125 of these youth receiving 1:1 or small-group services from members. Of these, 75 youth will demonstrate progress towards increased employability, 50 youth will enroll in HiSET [MA equivalent of GED] classes, and 15 youth will attain their HiSET during the service year. In addition, AmeriCorps members will leverage 40 volunteers who engage in community-building or service activities with UTEC youth.
