As members of God’s family, Christ the King Parish will

always be a welcoming community that comforts,

shares its Catholic faith, and inspires others.

To place a prayer request on the Christ the King

Prayer Chain, please call these prayer leaders:

Marcia Draeger (715-659-5182)

Kay Derks (715-659-4046)

Pease call a prayer chain leader instead of the parish office,

since they maintain the prayer list.

Christ the King Weekend Collection

Since there were No Masses offered for March 14 & 15 there is

not a current collection report.

Contributions have been received at the office, they may also be made online at:

https://diolc.org/christ-the-king-parish-spencer/

Thank you for your continued support of our parish!

From the desk of Fr. Barry:

My heart is broken over what is transpiring as of late. When I was ordained, I took my responsibilities very seriously, bringing the Sacraments to each of you is not only my responsibility but is also my passion and brings me much joy. With what has been man-dated by the State and also reiterated by Bishop Callahan, I wanted each of you to know what will transpire over the next few months and how we are responding here at Christ the King. With the closure of all schools, restaurant dining rooms, bars and gatherings of over 10 people, we have had to suspend Masses until further notice. At this point we don’t know how long that will be, but we are expecting further out than May. So here is what to expect at Christ the King in the coming months:

Our parish offices and Church will remain open unless we are mandated to close. In keeping the Church open, please use the SW entrance on Wendell. Our goal is to give each of you the time Christ so desires to spend with you. We will be cleaning/sanitizing the Church throughout the day, so we ask when you visit, please leave the kneeler down where you were so we know what area needs to be cleaned and sanitized first.

We as human beings need reflection time, that time to get motivated in what Christ is asking of us and for us. To help facilitate this I will continue posting my weekend homilies on our website (www.ctkspencer.net). As families, this is a time to draw closer in prayer and in bonding time. Praying as a family allows us all to put Christ at the center. This can be done through meal prayers, scripture readings during the week and most importantly on Sunday. Other ideas are night time prayer, saying the rosary or divine mercy chaplet, starting a devotion, or using apps on your phone to start a bible study. Prayer as a family is what will get us through this, coming out of it even stronger than before.

A note especially for our elderly parishioners, If you need help to pickup groceries or medication, please call the parish office at 715-659-4480.

Our Religious Education Program is an essential part of our youth’s lives. Deb Mlsna will be sending out via email lessons of what would have been discussed in the classes. It is our hope and prayer that you will use this material to make this a family event. We have sent this knowing that the material is important, but also will give you valuable time with one another. Partici-pating with your children shows them how important developing a relationship with our Lord is.

With all of this said, funerals are still being done at the graveside. The central aspect of our Church is her Sacraments, and I will do everything within my power to never removed them from the faithful.

During this time of uncertainty, I realize worries extend to the future. If you are able to continue your weekly tithing they can be mailed in or dropped off at the Seton Center where the parish office is currently located. Online giving may by made through https://diolc.org/christ-the-king-parish-spencer/ It is through your generous contributions that we can maintain the bills that we currently have.

Please know that each private Mass I say daily is for each of you, our community as a whole, and the country we live in. Church does not mean 4 walls, it means a community of believers bonded together by Christ himself. Putting Christ at the center of this pandemic will provide for each of us.

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact me at the parish office or by email and may God Bless each of you and keep you safe. Blessings, with much love and respect,

Fr. Barry

Act of Spiritual Communion

I believe that You are present in the Most Holy

Sacrament. I love You above all things, and I desire

to receive You into my soul.

Since I cannot at this moment receive You

sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my

heart. I embrace You as if You were already there

and unite myself wholly to You. Never permit me to

be separated from You.

Amen.
