All parishioners should be aware of the fact that we share use of these areas with St. Daniel School, and as such, there are times when access to or use of the parking lot and laneway are restricted for safety reasons. Especially around the end-of-day school dismissal time (roughly between 3:00 PM and 4:15 PM) this may mean the complete closure of the laneway in front of the Church building to all vehicle traffic. This is done with my blessing and all signage/traffic cones are to be observed respectfully. Please consider this closure when parking your vehicles. It is disappointing that some individuals have felt the need to speak and behave abusively to the school staff and student volunteers engaged in the task of ensuring the safety of the children. One individual even went so far as to inch his car threateningly toward a student. It is shameful that these individuals, immersed in behaviour that is deeply unchristian, have all cited their membership in our community as though this excused their entitled and abusive conduct. Please note that these incidents, along with descriptions of the vehicles (including license plate numbers) and individuals involved have been reported to the Waterloo Regional Police for investigation, as will all future occurrences (without warning and without exception). All those parking vehicles on parish property are expected to conduct themselves safely and with due consideration of others, and to observe and respect all signs and traffic-control measures. T

    FIFTH SUNDAY OF EASTER

    April 28, 29, 2018

    Acts 9:26-31 1 John 3:18-24 John 15:1-8

    A WORTHY WORK

    he early Church had

    to pick and choose

    its way daily. Their

    risen Lord had gone ahead,

    and they were invited and

    strengthened to follow.

    They followed bravely, and

    the whole Church

    journeyed in peace. The

    early church began the long

    procession that leads to this

century and place. Though nobody suggested that

following Jesus would be easy and fun, it would be a work

worthy of human endeavour, a rich and fruitful work.

    FROM THE PASTOR'S DESK

    Parking Problems

It has come to my attention that in recent weeks, members

of our parish community have been engaging in seriously

inappropriate and, at times, dangerous behaviour in our

parking lot and laneway. All parishioners should be aware

of the fact that we share use of these areas with St. Daniel

School, and as such, there are times when access to or use

of the parking lot and laneway are restricted for safety

reasons. Especially around the end-of-day school dismissal

time (roughly between 3:00 PM and 4:15 PM) this may

mean the complete closure of the laneway in front of the

Church building to all vehicle traffic. This is done with my

blessing and all signage/traffic cones are to be observed

respectfully. Please consider this closure when parking

    your vehicles.

It is disappointing that some individuals have felt the need

to speak and behave abusively to the school staff and

student volunteers engaged in the task of ensuring the

safety of the children. One individual even went so far as

to inch his car threateningly toward a student. It is

shameful that these individuals, immersed in behaviour

that is deeply unchristian, have all cited their membership

in our community as though this excused their entitled and

abusive conduct. Please note that these incidents, along

with descriptions of the vehicles (including license plate

numbers) and individuals involved have been reported to

the Waterloo Regional Police for investigation, as will all

future occurrences (without warning and without

exception). All those parking vehicles on parish property

are expected to conduct themselves safely and with due

consideration of others, and to observe and respect all

    signs and traffic-control measures.

  • DIOCESAN YOUTH RALLY

On Saturday, May 26th, more than a

dozen young people from our parish

will be participating in the Diocesan

Youth Rally at Camp Brebeuf. They

will have the opportunity to meet other young people (last

year, nearly 500 teenagers gathered for this great event), to

explore their faith, hear from dynamic speakers and have

Mass with Bishop Crosby. Please pray for all young

people who are attending this year's rally. For more

information on the Rally, or, if you know a young person

(12-17 years old) who might be interested in participating,

please speak with Sarah by April 30th.

Catholic Education Week 2018 begins on Sunday, May 6.

The Catholic schools in our parish will engage in a series

of events to celebrate the ongoing gift of publicly funded

Catholic education. You are invited to discover what

celebrations are happening in your children’s school and if

possible, attend. Publicly funded Catholic education has

existed in Ontario since 1841 and its graduates have

served Ontario and Canada very well. The current

generation of students in our publicly funded Catholic

schools will serve with the same spirit and generosity as

    their previous generations.

This year’s Catholic Education Week theme is “Renewing

    the Promise.”

The theme for CEW 2018 draws upon previous documents

on Ontario Catholic education, namely, “This Moment of

Promise” (1989), “Fulfilling the Promise” (1993) and “Our

Catholic Schools” (2006-2007). These three documents,

while several years apart from each other, all speak of the

unique mission of Ontario Catholic education, the

importance of its shared leadership by all those involved in

Catholic education and the critical role of Catholic

    education in contemporary society.

Catholic Education Week 2018 combines the themes of

reconciliation, solidarity, love, justice and ecology.

The CEW biblical quote is “For the promise is for you, for

your children, and for all who are far away, everyone

whom the Lord our God calls to him.” Acts 2:39

    THE 2018 K OF C

    GREAT SPRING CLEANUP

It doesn’t matter that Spring is late this year, the Kitchener

Knights of Columbus Fourth Great Big Spring Clean-up is

set to go on Saturday May 5th from 9:00 am to 12:00 noon.

Spring cleaning? Bring your items to the parking lot at St.

Anthony Daniel Church at Ottawa and Franklin. We’ll

take your unwanted electronic waste, scrap metal of any

kind and your unwanted clothing. For a food bank

donation, the K of C Shred All truck will securely destroy

your important papers. Help the Kitchener Knights of

Columbus raise the necessary funds for their local

    charities.

    YOUTH MINISTRY

    (GRADES 7-12)

All young people in grades 7-12 are invited to join us on

Tuesday, May 1st at 7:00 p.m. in the Parish Life Centre.

Young people of our parish are encouraged to bring

friends and relatives who may want to participate. As

always, no young person should feel unable to participate

because of a time conflict in one or more months; come

    whenever you can!
