    MESSAGE FROM THE PRESIDENT

    On behalf of the Malaysian Association for the study of Obesity (MASO), I am pleased towelcome you to MASO 2009, a biennial scientific conference to help remind Malaysians ofthis ever growing concern that the Government could no longer ignore.

    The theme Obesity and the Environment would focus on both the scientific advances andthe development of practical programme for use in communities. The aim of the conferenceis to promote health and address environmental issues directly or indirectly associated withthe increasing prevalence of obesity by fostering local and regional partnerships betweenscientists, educators, health care providers, public health officials, policy makers and otherstakeholders.

    I sincerely hope you would join us and look forward to welcome you to MASO 2009.

    MEETING AIMS

    This two-day conference will provide up-to-date information incorporating both research andpractice elements on the interaction between environmental factors and obesity.

    WHO SHOULD ATTEND

    Health care providers including nutritionists, dietitians, physicians, surgeons,endocrinologists, clinical psychologists, nurses, students (including postgraduates from non-medical and medical) working within the field of obesity and its related co-morbidities,pharmaceuticals and food industries, fitness and slimming centers and policy makers.

    LANGUAGE

    The official language for the conference is English.

    CALL FOR ABSTRACTS

    The abstract submission deadline is extended to15 July 2009.

    Scientific papers can be submitted for oral or poster presentation at the conference. For

    guidelines on abstract preparation, please visit www.maso.org.my for more details. Acceptedabstracts will be notified by the Secretariat within a week after submission deadline. Allpresenters must be registered participants. There will be a poster competition during theconference.
