APPEARED IN A PARISH BULLETIN “PLANS FOR PARISH SWIMMING POOL SCRAPPED! After much study, our finance committee has determined it would not be feasible to construct an indoor swimming pool in our church. . . As a result, we can now announce with certainty that those who have been arriving for Mass as if dressed for the pool need not do so. Also, we hope to keep the air conditioning cranking all summer long. So you do not need to wear shorts, halter tops or bikinis to Mass.” I believe this was obviously written “tongue-in- cheek.” While more casual dress is expected during the warmer months, our clothing expresses our devotion to God and the sacredness of the Mass.
“UPDATE ON OUR CAPITAL CAMPAIGN PROJECTS” We continue to make progress on the projects planned by our Capital Campaign. Our attention is presently focused on the renovation of Delaney Hall. Recently, the stage was removed giving us some much needed storage space. It is our plan to store the tables and chairs in that space when not needed. We are in the process of arranging for the installation of a panel folding door to enclose this new storage area. This will allow us to use that space for additional seating or serving tables. The air ducts of the old a/c system have now been removed as we are planning the installation of several “mini-splits,” which will allow us a greater control over the proper setting of the air conditioning temperature throughout Delaney Hall. We will soon have a company do the electrical work needed throughout Delaney Hall to run the lines for the new “mini-splits.” The timeline for the actual work and its completion are always being adjusted. I think that we are hoping that the work will be completed in Delaney Hall sometime before Christmas. Remember that part of the renovation includes the updating of the kitchen, which is still in the planning stage. In addition to the renovation projects under way; we have addressed several repairs that demanded our attention. We replaced all the leaders and gutters on the parish center. Two of the gutters were separating from the wall with cracks causing serious leaks and regular flooding in Delaney Hall. The repair of part of the front sidewalk of the parish center was recently completed as well. In addition sixty feet of fascia on the exterior of the church were replaced. I thank all those who are paying off your pledges to the Campaign. It’s not too late to make a pledge! If you haven’t already done so would you consider making a pledge? Together we can do so much for our wonderful parish.

In the Gospel, we find that the demand of
daily Christian living is to spend our life
primarily searching for the kingdom of God.
This week, please say a special prayer each
