BUILDING A NEWSAINT LUCIA

Mary Isaac has fought for the betterment of people’s lives for most of her adult life as a leader in the Civil Service Association. The good people of Castries South can be assured that she will put all of her experienceand passion into working ontheir behalf. “I know how government works and I believe this will give me an advantage in getting things done for the people of Castries South,” Mary explains. “Castries South is in urgent need of a makeover,” she says. “There is a pressing need for better housing, modern sanitation, green spaces and recreational facilities. People must also be given the power to take charge of their communities and help build the type of society that they wish to live in. Most important will be the opportunity for people to have good paying jobs to support their families. Equally important to Mary is the welfare

of senior citizens in Castries South. “There is still much we can learn from our older folk. We cannot afford to lose their mentorship. We must as a country provide programmes for them to remain active in their communities,” she says. Mary is also a firm believer in education as a ladder out of poverty. “What our young people need is greater access to tertiary education. How can we expect them to contribute to thebuilding of our country if they are

not given the tools to do so? No child should have to drop out of school because their parents have lost their job and can’t afford to send them. These are the things I will fight for,” says Mary. “My greatest desire is to provide a new kind of representation to the people of Castries South. I do not want to be the kind of MP that appears before an election, spends some money and then disappears till the next election. I have a track record of service and vast experience in lobbying on behalf of people which I will bring to my representation of the good people of Castries South,” Mary affirms
