Class Floats Each grade level and some school organizations will be working on parade floats. See club/class officers and club/class sponsors for more information regarding work times and locations. Important Events King and Queen Elections All grade levels will vote on Homecoming King and Queen during 1 st block on Friday, September 6. Instructions will be given about voting. Rally in the Yard Thursday, September 12 will be a night of Viking spirit. The evening will kick off at 6:00 P.M. with a parade beginning in the Semmes Elementary School parking lot. Parade participants will need to be in the parking lot by 5:30 P.M. The parade will move east on Blackwell Nursery Road, turn onto the bus drive in front of MGM, travel north then take a left onto the drive leading to the rear of the campus. Once the parade passes, all spectators are encouraged to move to the Yard--the grassy area between the home side of the football stadium, the auditorium, and the gym. The parade will be followed by the pep rally and the presentation of the 2019 Homecoming Court. The Homecoming King, Mr. and Miss Spirit winners, and class float winners will be announced. We will hear from our football players and coaches, and we will cheer for our Vikings. The Hickory Pit Too Food Truck will be present as well as Frios Pops and Katie's Kotton Candy. Football Game The MGM vs. Murphy game will take place at 7:00 P.M. on Friday, September 13. The Homecoming Court will be presented, and the Homecoming Queen will be announced during halftime. Spirit Days Mr. & Miss Spirit Students who would like to run for Mr. or Miss Spirit for their grade level should pick up a form outside of room 402. You will need to have your picture taken in room 402 Monday-Friday before 7:10 A.M. Students must be in uniform pants and wear closed- toe shoes when participating in spirit days but may wear accessories to add to their uniforms. Costumes deemed inappropriate for school will not be allowed. Monday-- Out of This World Day We kick off our Out of This World Week with a day to be extra---extra-terrestrial. For this day, you may dress in space suits and alien gear. Maybe you are more sci- fi with Star Wars or Star Trek. Pull out that planetary apparel, and beam us up, Scottie. Tuesday-- MEME Day From Grumpy Cat to Kermit with a tea cup, memes are a rapidly changing phenomenon in entertainment. Get your thumbs ready to scroll your social media, choose a fave, then show us your meme self. Wednesday-- Morph Day You see them every day. Those harbingers of knowledge who stand before you each day sharing their wisdom--your beloved teachers. This is the day for you to dress as one. Find some blazers and practical shoes, and show us your best educational persona. Thursday-- Time-Travel Day On this day, seniors dress as senior citizens. Juniors dress as your moms and dads. Sophomores, dress as a middle school student, and freshmen, you dress as you did in elementary school. Friday-- #BEaVIKING Show your school spirit on Friday by wearing black and blue accessories. You are allowed to wear spirit tattoos on your face, but you are not allowed to paint your face. Skol, Vikings! Mary G. Tickets may be purchased for MGM students and their dates during lunch waves in the cafeteria on September 3-Thursday, September 12 or until tickets run out.

Tickets will be sold on a first come, firstserve basis.

Policies TICKETS

Tickets cost $30 per person. No tickets will be sold at the door. A ticket may only be used for the person it

was purchased for originally. Tickets may not be given to any other person to use.

A ticket must be presented for entry to thedance. Without physical tickets, entry willbe denied.

Lost tickets will not be reissued. Ticket refunds will not be issued for any

reason.DATES

A student who is bringing a date who is not an MGM student must pick up a date permission form outside of room 402 and turn it in by Thursday, September 5. Forms will be available Monday, August 26.

No middle school students or adults 21years of age or older are allowed to attend the dance.

Dates must be enrolled in high school ormust have graduated from high school.

DATES CONTINUED If the date attends another high school, he

or she must have his or her principal signthe date permission form.

If the date has graduated from high school,a photocopy of his or her ID must besubmitted with date forms.

No date forms will be accepted after Thursday, September 5 or after tickets run out. Forms should be returned to room 402.

ATTIRE Attire is semi-formal. Students and their

dates are expected to observe the basicstandards of modesty, good judgment, andgood taste.

Dresses should be knee-length. Noplunging necklines, excessively deep backlines, exposed midriffs more than 1 inch, exposed undergarments, orextremely short dresses or splits are allowed. Dressy slacks should be worn with collared shirt and tie. A coat is optional.

No jeans, sagging pants, shorts, tennisshoes, flip flops, or hats are allowed.

The personal grooming policy of MGM mustbe adhered to at the Homecoming Dance.

Students wearing clothing deemedinappropriate for a school function will notbe allowed into the dance, and no refundwill be issued.

DANCING Dancing may not be sexually explicit. There is to be no sexually suggestive

dancing, below the waist contact,“freaking”, “grinding”, or groping.

Students who do not adhere to these ruleswill be required to leave the dance, and norefund will be issued.

SAFETY To ensure student safety, MGM staff, in

conjunction with the Mobile County Sheriff’sOffice, will utilize a variety of screeningprocedures to ensure that no student is inpossession of or under the influence ofdrugs or alcohol. These procedures mayinclude administering breathalyzers to eachstudent upon entrance to the dance.

Any student who violates the school’sdrug/alcohol policy will face suspension aswell as arrest by the Mobile County Sheriff’sOffice.

MISCELLANEOUS

Re-entry is not allowed into the dance atany time for any reason.

No outside food or drinks are allowed intothe dance. Soft drinks and water will beavailable for purchase for $2.

No party buses or limousines are allowedto drop off or pick up students for theHomecoming Dance.

EXPULSION

MGM students or guests who do not adhereto the Homecoming Dance policies andprocedures will be required to leave thedance, and no refund will be issued.
