“We budgeted transport costs over one year and Marshall has beaten these.Paperwork has been reduced to a minimum saving us all the invoices we used toreceive on a monthly basis. We have changed the staffing from one Manager downto one Supervisor.
It has also given us peace of mind with updated transport Policy Documentation.

Culture
Marshall Leasing is not a bank and we are not part of a bank. We are not owned by avehicle manufacturer. Unlike many of our competitors Marshall Leasing is not inbusiness to promote any single vehicle badge or service the funding aspirations of afinancial institution. Instead, we are a fleet management company owned by a motorgroup with over 100 years of trading history. Marshall has been renting and servicingvehicles since the first cars appeared on our country’s roads. We believe that ourprivate group’s history - which also encompasses managing the RAF’s Hercules fleet - is one of integrity and commitment to an ethical culture of customer service.
Through a process of excellent staff retention, focus on personal and dedicated clientrelationships, and an open common sense approach we are able to drive throughcustomer retention and maintain continuity of service.
We value our customers and our customers value us.
The Pursuit of Happiness
Partnership
Marshall Leasing would prefer not to patronise you with
endless clichés and instead simply say, "As far as is possible,
we will build for you a package that meets your requirements
and is delivered to your expectations."
We are successful because we do a very good job of looking
after a very select group of clients. Fleet operators are
perfectly capable of knowing what they want. In fact most of
them have had so much experience of what they don’t want
that they can bullet point the areas that they would love to see
done better.
Consultancy
Of course this means listening, discussing, advising and
formulating an internal and external car policy that best suits
your business requirements. Increasingly, businesses
understand that fleet management is not just a financial
consideration but also involves Human Resources and
employees including so called ‘grey’ drivers. We suggest that
businesses also take into account the Health & Safety and
green aspects of fleet housekeeping as well as looking at cost
reduction objectives.
Foundation
We review fleet policy taking into account manufacturer choice and
environmental concerns. We also advise on appropriate funding
solutions, determine employee allowances in relation to taxation
and benefits, and set out the right Health & Safety agenda.
Function
Our clients want a proactive service. Most are looking for us to
reduce significantly their administrative workload. Helpfully, today’s
technology enables direct interaction with your drivers which in turn
takes the day-to-day operational process from your desk to ours.
We can agree the type of offering you require and the operational
procedures that will be put in place, building in all required services
from driving licence validation to accident management, and going
on to design an internal vehicle policy as a road map for the end
user (the driver). This enables us to create the appropriate
implementation process.
Reportage
All good partnership depends on communication. We set out to meet
with our client on a regular basis. As part of this social interaction we
review the clients fleet operation highlighting specific areas of action,
concern and interest. This consultation is built around our YOU VIEW
account reportage module which provides detailed and
comprehensive reporting. The client can then take proactive steps in
partnership with us to ensure the most efficient and cost effective
operation of their fleet.
Outsourcing
We see outsourcing as a product in its
own right. From the moment you
establish a relationship with Marshall
Leasing, we begin providing fleet
support. Today, many clients want us to
go the whole nine yards, and relieve
them of the entire administration burden.
The methodology for developing any
bespoke outsourcing arrangement is
ultimately based around the creation of
your internal and external fleet policy
Salary Sacrifice Solution
Marshall Leasing offer a Salary Sacrifice
Solution which potentially affords all your
employees significant savings on a new
fully maintained car. This highly attractive
staff benefit can be delivered with a
minimum overhead and administration.
The scheme is driven through our fully
automated online mechanism. So it
really is a simple provision to roll out
and manage.
Products
It is clearly the case that today’s fleet
decision maker is faced with a common
choice of operational alternatives (i.e.
products). Given that all fleet management
providers will list the same portfolio of
products, we are convinced that the real
opportunities lie in the detail. It is how
we interpret the emotive areas of early
contract termination, re-charges, contract
amendments and other ‘stealth’ costs that
frankly provide a self-determined
business like Marshall Leasing with the
ability to offer a more customer-friendly
package than our larger competitors.
We believe in building a solution which
is specifically designed to suit your
individual requirements. There are three
cornerstone products on which most
proposals are based: Funding, Fleet
management, driver support. However,
variations on the theme of each can
prove interesting. The consultation
process we adopt enables us to deliver
a truly tailor made package.

Marshall 100 Years YoungMarshall of Cambridge was started by David Marshall on 1st October 1909 in astable in Brunswick Gardens, Cambridge. He provided chauffeur-hire transport forwealthy dons and undergraduates, who were mainly patrons of the University PittClub, of which he was Steward. From this evolved the garage business that is todayMarshall Motor Group, which sold its first car in 1914.
In 1912, Marshall mechanics assisted with repairs to an Army airship which hadmade an emergency landing behind the Marshall Garage. This was the Company’sfirst recorded contact with aviation.
During the 1914-18 War, David Marshall was appointed to organise the catering atthe Woolwich Arsenal, where he had to provide over 56,000 meals a day formunitions workers. It was during the course of this work, for which he was laterawarded the MBE, that he was asked by the Ministry of Food to advise on canteenarrangements for the Austin Factory at Longbridge. This brought him into contactwith Herbert Austin and the Austin Motor Company. A distributorship for AustinCars was awarded in 1920, and this was the foundation of the Company’s currentretails motor group, which is now the largest private dealership network in England.
After gaining his flying licence at Norwich, David Marshall’s son, Arthur establishedthe first Cambridge aerodrome in 1929. He was made a Master Instructor by TheGuild of Air Pilots and Air Navigators in 1931. The expansion of the Marshall aviationbusiness led to the purchase of land just outside Cambridge in 1935, on which thepresent Cambridge Airport was developed. During the course of the Second WorldWar, Marshall trained over 20,000 pilots and repaired over 5,000 aircraft.
Sir Arthur Marshall was awarded an OBE for his contribution to the war effort.
Marshall established a vehicle body building division, which grew to become asubstantial supplier to the Ministry of Defence and is now Marshall Land Systems.Marshall has supplied the Ministry of Defence with more than 80,000 vehicle bodies,as well as 9,500 DROPS Flatracks for the British Army.
Other products made by Marshall have included Power Pack Repair Facilities, expandable shelters for a range of uses, which include mobile hospitals. In 1953,the company opened an Aircraft Design Office. Marshall has carried out significantwork for Vickers on the early Valiant bomber; designing and building in 1967, thecomplex droop nose and retracting visor for Concorde; and, in the late 1970s,designing and building a medical research sled for use on the space shuttleChallenger, which flew 121 earth orbits in 1985. In 1966, Marshall was appointed asthe first Lockheed C-130 Hercules Service Centre in the world and has supportedthe Royal Air Force’s fleet of C-130 aircraft on an unbroken basis since that date.
Her Majesty The Queen accompanied by His Royal Highness The Duke ofEdinburgh visited the Marshall Group on 19th November 2009. Sir Michael Marshallwas recently knighted in the 2010 New Year Honours list. He was honoured with aCBE in the Queen’s Birthday Honours list in 1999. Commenting on the knighthood,Sir Michael said: “I am absolutely thrilled. It is an amazing fairytale ending to ourfantastic centennial year.” In 2012 Robert Marshall took over from his Fatherperpetuating the family lineage, leading the Marshall group into the next 100 years.
Environmentally Friendly
Since its foundation, the Marshall Group has
adopted a highly responsible and proactive
environmental stance with particular focus
on the stewardship of its land and property.
The Group continues to recognise that
corporate responsibility and sustainability
are integral parts of being a successful
business and that care for the environment
is a crucial part of this responsibility.
The Group’s stance and policy on this vital
area is directed by Robert Marshall,
who actively participates in the Group
Environmental Committee, thus
underpinning the importance Marshall
places on its responsibilities for the future of
the planet. An Environmental Management
System (EMS) is being introduced to follow
the standards and the guiding principle of
ISO 14001. There is great emphasis on
maintaining regulatory and legislative
compliance, whilst at the same time
environmental management teams and
nominated individuals actively monitor
and manage the day-to-day running of
environmental activities within each
operating company, with particular focus on
the following areas:
• controlling emissions to air, land and water;
• reducing consumption of energy;
• managing waste to maximise recycling and
minimise disposal to landfill; and training
employees to improve their awareness of
environmental best practice.
Ongoing environmental initiatives across the
Group include:
• An environmental management committee
which meets on a regular basis to monitor
the activities of the Group.
• Marshall Aerospace and Marshall Land
Systems are signatories to the MoD
Sustainable Procurement Charter and
are actively working on streamlining
procurement activities, to ensure best
practice in becoming greener and more
sustainable.
• Smart metering which is being introduced
across the Group to enhance energy
performance.
• Thermal imaging at many of our sites on a
biennial basis to highlight unusual hot
spots which may indicate heat loss.
• Participation in the Cambridgeshire Travel
to Work partnership travel survey, to
establish how the Group’s employees
travel to and from work and the impact
on the local transport infrastructure
and environment.
• The development of workplace travel
plans and the provision of additional cycle
parking facilities.
• The Group is also accessing and
evaluating the most modern appropriate
methodology to reduce the carbon
footprint of the Marshall Airport
Cambridge site and a multi-disciplinary
carbon working group has been formed to
manage this project.
• The Group has planted thousands of trees
on its land.
• Marshall spearheaded the Cambridge
Rainforest Appeal to enable the World Land
Trust to fund the purchase of a key wildlife
corridor in Borneo. This secures the future
of approximately 600 Orang-utans, an
endangered species and prevents the
release of 94,000 tonnes of carbon
emissions.
• Marshall has secured an electricity
contract which will provide ‘green
electricity’ for all of the Cambridge site,
and is exploring alternative sources of
energy in order to reduce further its
carbon footprint.
