Instrumental Curriculum as presented in this Benchmark Assessment Portfolio.

The materials of the Benchmark Assessment Portfolio will include the following:

“The Foundations for Superior Performance: Warm-Ups and Technique for Band”,

written by Richard Williams & Jeff King. Supplemental Materials will be provided by

Ms. Maxwell. These include, but are not limited to, Handouts, Worksheets, etc.

The Director will access the following throughout the school year:

1) Technical Exercises – To be performed/achieved by the student in an acceptable level

and time frame determined by the Band Director.

2) Musicianship and Creativity – To be achieved by the student at an acceptable level

and time frame determined by the Band Director.

The Benchmark Requirements are designed to set goals for each Individual Student so that they

have an opportunity to achieve success. The program is designed for the student to move at a

pace which allows them to experience and achieve success on their own.

Each Student is expected to come to his/her scheduled lesson each week. In addition, every

student is responsible for everything that is required in band class even when the students

are out for their cycle class.
