Super Fun 4th off July Parade

We had another huge turn out of our annual Parade and Decorating Contests.

Over 200 neighbors came together to celebrate and participate by bike, wagon, scooter, float, unicycle and walk the parade route, led by our Local # 70 Fire Dept’s Big Red fire truck!

We enjoyed our local Scouts presenting the colors and leading us In the Pledge of Allegiance. Amber Fensler sang our National Anthem to roaring applause. Rory Kirk was our great DJ and Master of Ceremony.

Thank you to all our neighbors who donated so that we could give out prizes in over 20 categories to our local neighbors and kids who did a great job decorating for our contests! Looking forward to next year!

SAPD MOUNTED PATROL

On 7/17/19, training was held by the Santa Ana Po-lice Department Mounted Unit and Orange County Regional Mounted Enforcement units in Santa Ana at Santiago Park. The agencies present at the train-ing were Santa Ana, Huntington Beach, Newport Beach, Orange, Irvine and the Orange County Sheriff's Department. Also assisting in the training were 35 explorers from Santa Ana and SAUSD.

Santiago Park provides a "real" world atmosphere to train in. Sgt. M. McCarthy and Sgt. K Blake were in charge of designing, organizing, and conducting the training for the day.

After a team meeting, the officers were broken into two groups. Each participating in two different stations that were set-up in Santiago Park. The first part of the day involved (4) scenarios (everyday police situations) that the officers worked together in (2) man teams. Also, a sensory course was set-up at the K9 Training Field.

After lunch, a mobile field force protest exercise on the street in the area of 2600 N. Santiago. The Explorers acted as an unruly crowd as the officers and their mounts worked together to disperse them.

OC STREET CAR PROJECT

To complement Orange County’s Metrolink service, passengers need a way to get to their final destination after getting off a train. Through a program called OC Go, the city of Santa Ana and Garden Grove developed this to address the need of a rail system to key employment, population, and activity centers.

The OC streetcar is expected to begin operations in 2022, the OC Streetcar will link the bustling Santa Ana Regional Transportation Center (SARTC), which provides regional rail, OCTA bus, and intercity and international bus services, to a new multimodal hub at Harbor Boulevard/Westminster Avenue in Garden Grove. Along the way, OC Streetcar will connect directly with 18 OCTA bus routes. I t will increase transportation options and provide greater access along its 4.15-mile route (in each direction).

It will also serve the historic downtown Santa Ana and Civic Center, which includes government offices, federal, state and local courthouses, unique restaurants and shops, an artists’ village, several schools and a variety of community enrichment organizations.
