Introduction• In 2002 multi-millionaire internet visionary Mark

Shuttleworth made headline news by becoming the first South African space travel. At a cost of evilent to $20 million, he became a civilian cosmonaut on a Soyuz spacecraft for an Russian space expediation. His next mission in 2004, was to bring his Ubuntu Linux, a free operating system to people around the globe. (Weiss, 2007).

Without largescaled infrasture, Shuttle worth's digital certificate company. Based on open-source software was sold durting the the dotcom craze in 2000. Shuttleworth's company, Thwarte was sold to the American firm Verisign for approximately $575m in Verisign shares. In less than a year he liquidated these shares into 4.6 Billion South African Rands, roughly $560 million USD.(Weiss, 2007).

“When asked about how he obtained the purposeof getting back in the Internet business, he revealed his objective of sharing the benefits of free software to a much wider audience. He also discloses that fortunate timing enables his company to partly reach the Linux for the masses. The Space AdventurerIn 2001, Mark shuttleworth secured his dream of space flight, paying $20 million to buy a seat on a Russian spacecraft and would become the first African in space. It took a year of training to prepare for the mission aboard a Soyuz capsule which docked at International Space Station (ISS). On April 25, 2002, Shuttleworth’s dream became a reality as the Soyuz spacecraft blasted off with Shuttleworth and two other cosmonauts. Shuttleworth adventure lasted eight days aboard the space station and safetly returned to earth. (Mark Shuttleworth, 2014)

The Future of Shuttleworth

Shuttleworth supports open-source software and social change, His philanthropic organization, supports bringing tehnology to underdeveloped nations and regions.

Shuttleworth plans to expands his Ubuntu operating sytem, and is soon to be releasing a version that runs on mobile devices such as cell phone. (Weiss, 2007)
