SPECS has achieved world-wide recognition for the quality

and function of its engine room oil mist detector (AOMD)

and crankcase oil mist detector (COMD). The company also

supplies various monitoring systems for ship safety and

maintenance. It has developed a bearing wear monitoring

system (BWMS) to predict bearing wear in 2-stroke engines

before the condition becomes critical. The system provides

early warning alarm and a slow down signal if unexpected

problems arise with any of the crank-train bearings,

including crosshead, crank and main bearings.

SPECS also offers a ship energy efficiency monitoring system

(SEEMS) that collects real-time signals related to the

efficiency and performance of ship operation, analyzes the

information and stores the calculated data. It calculates and

displays EEOI & CO2 emission values based on IMO

guidelines, presents trend graphs of the data over variable

time periods, and presents daily, voyage and sea trial

to reduce the risk of fire from machinery space flammable oil systems

or explosions induced by oil mist inside diesel engine crankcases.

SPECS' oil mist detector for engine room (AOMD) and the model for

Hanshin's intercom system provides internal ship communication and broadcasting capabilities. A

talk back function and emergency alarm facilitates easy communication with the crew. The

company's CCTV system is designed for real-time monitoring and event recording. It's able to

Air Handling Units, Condensers Designed for Marine Use

HI AIR KOREA's high-pressure, high-velocity air conditioning plant systems were developed and

designed in the early fifties, pioneering stable, optimum climatic conditions for passengers and

crew on board ships sailing the seven seas. Marine installations include giant super tankers,

container ships, offshore projects, FPSOs, Ro-Ro vessels, naval vessels and advanced passenger

ferries.

Products

Air handling unit can be used with SINGLE-PIPE AC System, TWIN-PIPE AC System and

RE-HEAT AC system (electric reheater or hot water reheater) with the combination of

different types of cabin units. Air handling unit type HKA is specially designed for

marine air conditioning installations. Each section is designed as a modular system and

consists of a rigid framework made of square sections with specially assembled corners.

The sections are made of galvalume and internally well insulated. Equipment such as

fan, motor and filter mat can be simply removed from its section through inspection

doors fitted to ensure easy maintenance.

LHE offers an eco-friendly distiller to convert seawater into

high-quality freshwater using an efficient evaporation and

condensation process. The heart of the fresh water

generator is a single titanium plate that incorporates

evaporation, separation and condensation processes in one

unit. The LHE Woorisoo system is capable of treating

seawater with 20,000 to 35,000 parts per million (PPM) to

produce fresh water at 0.5 to 10 PPM with a capacity of 10

to 60 tons per day depending on the model (Woorisoo-65/80/100).

At 850mm in width, 1,500mm in height and 750-

1,850mm in length and weighing from 950 kilograms to

1,240 kilograms depending on model, the LHE fresh water

generator is easy to install and with no outer shell, it

The LHE plate and frame heat exchanger is fixed by a number of thin and

corrugated heat transfer plates. These heat transfer plates provide flow

channels for two kinds of fluid, while the chevrons on the heat transfer

plate make the flow turbulent and play a role in supporting the plate

against the pressure difference between the two fluids.

The heat transfer plate is corrugated to maximize heat transfer efficiency

and the chevrons are designed to make countercurrent flow, which

diminishes the quantity of fluid remaining in the heat exchanger and

eliminates the dead-zone. This plate heat exchanger can obtain several

times the heat transfer efficiency compared with shell and tube heat

exchangers.

Marine Growth Prevention System (M.G.P.S.)

1. ANFOSYS (Electric anode type) optimized for flow rates lower than 5,000m3/h

Designed based on total sea water flowrate and lifetime, KC's anti-fouling system has been

developed to prevent the adhesion of marine fouling to sea water service lines by using the Cu++

ion produced from copper anode and anti-corrosive layer of Al2(OH)3 produced aluminium anode.

2. ECHLOSYS (Chlorination type) optimized for flow rates higher than 5,000m3/h

This system is designed to prevent the adhesion of marine growths to the internal pipelines of

ships through the chemical reaction of chlorine compounds produced from the electrolyzation ofsea water. The sea water taken from the outlet of one of the common sea water pumps or pumps

for exclusive use in MGPS is fed into the generating chamber, in

which the sea water is electrolyzed with specially designed

electrodes. Then, the sea water containing chlorine compounds

is injected into scoops or sea chests through nozzles to mix with

the sea water sucked in from outside of the ship, thus preventing

marine growths from adhering to the interior of the ships sea

water lines including sea chest, piping and heat exchanger.

Fuel Injection Parts for Marine Diesel Engines

Fuel injection engine parts are used for controlling the amount of fuel and

delivering fuel to the engine. Fuel injection valves for diesel fuel injection

delivers atomized fuel from an injection pump into the cylinder valve. Fuel

injection nozzles are made of brass housing with stainless steel inserts. The

fuel injection pump is operates by gears on the crankshaft, through a toothed

timing belt or chain.

Plunger assemblies are fabricated with raw materials satisfying customer requirements andestablished standards under a strict quality control system. The plunger is made of SUJ2 (bearingsteel) with excellent abrasion resistance, while the barrel is made of 15CrNi6 (nickel-chrome alloyedsteel) with excellent abrasion resistance, which can endure high pressure conditions when fuelpumps are in operation. Accordingly, their durability and life span are maximized.

Used for the injection of fuels into diesel engines, fuel injection pumps rank among the mosttechnically demanding members in the family of pressure generators. HEARTMAN fuel pumps arecharacterized by expertise developed over decades in terms of helixes (in the case of conventionalpump-line-nozzle systems (PLN)), component coatings, sealing elements and valve engineering.

Pumps for alternative fuels are also based on jerk pump technology. These pumps are subject toparticularly high requirements regarding wear of pump elements, connectors and sealing elements.

This fresh water generator uses the engine coolant as a heat source and produces

fresh water by evaporating and condensing sea water. To evaporate sea water, it only

uses the heat from the coolant, so while a vessel is sailing, it uses the main engine,

and while a vessel is in port it uses the auxiliary engine to produce fresh water.

While the generator is running, the internal section is in vacuum, so the boiling

point of sea water is lower. The vapor becomes water drops by refrigeration from

cold sea water.
