AIS DECODERHOW TO SET-UP FOR USE WITH AN AIS RECEIVER WITH SERIAL OUTPUT AND SHARE DATA WITH MARINETRAFFIC
If you own an AIS receiver with a serial data output and you wish to share your data with MarineTraffic, you will need an AIS data forwarding utility such as AIS Decoder. You will also need a dedicated PC with RS232 and ethernet Ports, XP or newer OS and a stable internet connection.
• Next download AIS Decoder from here:http://www.marinetraffic.com/files/AisDecoder_setup_3.1.0.122.exe
• Double-clickonthefileyouhave justdownloadedandruntheinstaller.Onceitisfinished, a new folder will be created (named AIS Decoder) in your Start-->Applications program group.
• Open that folder and double-click on the AIS Decoder icon.
• The application will start and you should see the main window:
• The first step is to connect your Receiver to your PC using a standard serial cable.Make sureyourCOMportisconfiguredas38400,8,N,1noflowcontrolandyourPChas access to the internet. Your equipment should be set-up as shown below:

• In the Input Source field select External and in the External Source field tick the Serial checkbox as shown below:
• On the Controlfield,clickontheOptions button:
• Youwillnowentertheapplication'sconfigurationwindow.AttheSettingsfieldselect the COM port your receiver is connected to and the standard AIS serial dataSpeed(38400).

Note:
When checked, the Reject Input Filter option willrejectany MMSI’s starting with00.
If you haven’t done this already, please visit the MarineTraffic website (http://www.marinetraffic.com) and register yourself by creating a New Account.
Upon registration, sign-in to your account (top right corner) and click on My Account > My Stations > Add Receiving Station to add your Station to the MarineTraffic Network.
This way, you will get a new Station ID and a unique Port Number to send data to.IMPORTANT

• Now, on the OutputfieldticktheUDP Output checkbox, select NMEA as outputmethod and enter the MarineTraffic IP and your unique port number:
• Whenfinished,clickontheSave button on the All Settingsfieldtosaveyourcurrentconfiguration:
• Close the settings window and return to the main application window. Tostart sending data, click on the Start button on the Control field:

Two additional windows will be displayed, the NMEA Input Window and the message Summary Window:

• Finally, visit your station’s Details page and make sure your station status is ONLINE (it may take a few minutes for that to happen):
Click on any line (sentence) on the Summary Window to see the fully decoded data for the sentence:
