“Lunch & Learn” with Kathy Weidner

Cypress Registered Dietitian Monday, May 18, 2015

11:45 am - 1:00 pm in the Garden Room

Topic: Local, Sustainable, Seasonal and Organic Foods -

Are they really better for you?

Is local, sustainable, organic, free-range, cage-free, and seasonal foods really better for you, more nutritious, and does the extra cost make sense for everyone to jump on the Farmer’s Market wagon?

In 1987, the United Nation defined sustainable (food) development as “development which meets the needs of current generations without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs.” The trend towards local, sustainable and seasonal foods on menus in restaurants, hospitals, and hotels has been growing over the last decade. Food isn’t just tasty anymore, it also needs to be environmentally responsible along with more healthful. But is it really better for you? Please call, Kathy Weidner, Dietitian at 704-714-5551 to reserve your place!
