Rustin was a significant figure of the Civil Rights Movement whose importance and contributions often went unappreciated due to the tenor of the times. He was an openly gay man, a pacifist, the architect of the historic 1963 March on Washington. He introduced non- violent civil disobedience to M. L. King, Jr. and spent his life working for human and civil rights for all. PCCNCF will honor Rustin’s contributions with a program dedicating the community meeting room, a showing of “Brother Outsider: The Life of Bayard Rustin” and a table display of works by and about Rustin. Simple refreshments will be provided. To add to the event, Jazz Bandits will play throughout the evening. A diverse group of friends, brought together by their love of playing jazz, the Jazz Bandits have been playing together for over 5 years. They play jazz standards of all eras, from Take the A Train to Blue Monk. They are regulars at Lightnin’ Salvage where the crowd of all ages is often dancing in the aisles. Bayard Rustin Dedication

The Bayard Rustin Community Meeting Room at PCCNCF will be formally dedicated on Saturday, March 17th, the 100th anniversary of Rustin’s birthday. Rustin was a significant figure of the Civil Rights Movement whose importance and contributions often went unappreciated due to the tenor of the times.

Join us Saturday, March 17th, at 7:00 - 9:00 pm for a fun and informative evening recognizing the mostly

Gay Movie Night

Pride Community Center now hosts “Gay Movie Night” on the last Friday of each month at 7:30 p.m.

March 30: “Lost Everything” Brian Brecht is a closeted gay movie

star who's come to Miami on a publicity tour. Though journalists

watch his every move in the hopes of outing him, Brian can't help but start a fling with the handsome bartender at

the hotel. Meanwhile, Brian's manager arranges for an ambitious starlet to

pose as Brian s girlfriend, a televangelist plots a murder with a hit man and hit woman,

and a local art dealer fends off an abusive ex. Though these seemingly unrelated characters don t know it yet,

their lives are on a collision course that will end in scandal for some and death for others.

April 27: “Kickoff”

What happens when the hardest team in the Sunday Soccer league comes up against a gay team and finds they’ve finally me their match? A funny, sexy, high-energy and extremely gay British

comedy.

“Gay Movie Night” is a free service to the GLBT community. A $2 donation is requested to cover

snack and refreshment costs.

First Sunday of each month at 5:00pm!

Kindred Sisters Magazine & PCCNCF are combining forces to bring you the “Women’s Dinner & a Movie.” Join us the 1st Sunday of each month at 5pm at the Pride Community Center. Relax with the gals, enjoy a nice dinner, & catch a new movie --

all for just $5 (to cover dinner)!

March 4: “Chutney Popcorn” When Reena learns that married sister Sarita can't have a baby, she decides to play surrogate mother, but Reena's girl-

friend worries that three might be a crowd. Themes of love, family obliga-

tions and fertility swirl through the story as Sarita grapples with her failure to

conceive, and Reena's mother remains in the dark about her daughter's same-sex relationship.

April 1: “The Runaways”

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning star as Joan Jett and Cherie Currie in

the music-fueled coming of age story of the groundbreaking, all-girl rock band, THE RUNAWAYS. The film serves up

an understated but wonderfully roman-tic depiction of the attraction between the two girl bandmates (including one

of the hottest lesbian screen kisses of the year).
