It’s time to put a little Spring into your step! How better to do that than to sprinkle a little Thirty-One love all around you! We affectionately call them ‘seeds’. That’s right! Springtime is all about renewal, fresh starts, new beginnings, and joy! So start sprinkling! Booking seeds, recruiting seeds, even selling seeds and watch your business blossom!

I challenge you this month to reach out to at least 4 new people - four new potential hostesses, four new potential team members, and four people who are either guests at a party or are placing a retail order and ask them to ‘add-on’ something - whether it is personalization or a perfect pairing to their order. Are you up for the challenge?

PARTIES

SPIN A YARN

Its great to play party plan games at the beginning of your home party as an icebreaker. Here is one that just needs a skein of yarn.

Pass around the yarn and a pair of scissors. Ask everyone to take a piece as long as they think they will need. They’ll start asking you questions like, “as long as we need for what?” or “should I take a big piece or a small piece?” Just smile and repeat that they should take what they think they need.

You can even have your hostess play along by attempting to “measure” her waist with the yarn,

and taking around that amount if you’d like. This will get the guests confused. Some will take a little, some will take a whole lot.

After everybody has taken their length of yarn, take a piece for yourself and wrap it once around your finger and hold it there, telling them they have to do the same. They then have to talk about themselves for as long as it takes to wind the rest of the yarn around their finger. Take a long piece of thread yourself and start by telling them about yourself and your business. The ones who took too much thread will be talking a lot!

BOOKINGSAre you achieving your booking goals? Looking for ways to take your bookings and your calendar to the next level?

The foundation of your business starts - you guessed it - at the party! In order to have a super strong business, you need to look at your business in seasons, not just month-to-month! You need to be setting a booking goal to book at least 2 parties at each of your parties consistenly!

Do you ever get to the middle or end of your booking season and think I will never get any parties scheduled! It’s time to overcome that fear and dream BIG!

First of all, don’t think the customer specials are the only reason they are coming to the party. They came to the party to hang out with the Hostess, have girl time, and do some shopping. The customer specials are just the icing on the cake! Keep that in mind!

At the party, invite your party guests to help the Hostess shop and pick out her Hostess Rewards! Let them see what their Hostess is going to receive for FREE just for hanging out with her friends!

Of course, it goes without saying that before your party, you need to lay out your calendar for the season, being sure to mark off family obligations and

time away from your business. Then mark those special days that you have available just for parties. You need to have these with you at the party so they can see what is left on your calendar! At this point, ask the guests to pick out their party date. Let them know you only have those remaining dates left. This creates a sense of urgency and you will be surprised at how many will say yes! If they decide not to book now, ask them to book for next season! Just get that party on the calendar!

Another great idea is to REBOOK your hostess AT HER PARTY! Think about that for a minute. When you visit the dentist, on your way out the door, what do they ask you? When would you like to book your next appointment? Right?

Are you doing this for your Hostesses? Ask them at the end of their party to go ahead and book their next party for the next catalog season.As a perk for booking early, put her on the list to get one of the first catalogs when they are released for the next selling season.

Brilliant right?

Get creative and look at the big picture. Don’t be afraid to book months down the road. You will see your calendar filling up quicker than you ever dreamed!

Offer to include your Hostess in a special VIP group that affords her the opportunity to book her next party for the next shopping season! Book this party during the next catalog cycle.

RECRUITINGACTIVE LISTENINGThe easier you make this business, the easier you will find it to invite others to join your team. Always being prepared, being organized, and being relaxed will show others how simple it is not only to start, but run their own business.

When you share information about the opportunity with everyone you remove the possibility of prejudging someone and whether they would benefit from the 31 opportunity. That’s not your job! You should always share the benefits of joining with everyone you meet. When you see a waitress working hard to satisfy table after table of people - share with her a way to make more money, in less time, while having a lot more fun! When talking to other mothers at the park, share how she too

can feel good about staying home with her children, yet still make a substantial impact on the household income. Truly, the possibilities are endless. Just remember, the most important part of the recruiting process is to follow up!

Learn to recognize when someone asks key questions about the business. Like party leads, recruit leads go cold quickly. Being able to recognize when you are getting the nod to provide more information is crucial. Parties are the lifeline of your business – this is where you will be most likely to find your new clients, your next hostess, and your new team members. Listen for questions or comments that are “her way” of asking for more information about the business.

WHAT IS SHE SAYING & ARE YOU HEARING HER?• How much money do you make doing this?• How many parties do you do a week?• I need a fun job like yours.• How did you learn to do parties so well?• How did you get into doing this?• What does it cost to start?• Where do you find parties?

When someone is asking you those types of questions, they are definitely someone you want to follow-up with and ask if they ever thought about doing what you do?

Are you picking up on the signs in conversations? Always be listening!

SELLING

Getting the word out about your business is simple and challenging at the same time. You need to work smarter, share smarter, and surprisingly, you will find it is much more successful than giving a sales pitch.

If you really want to use social media as a tool, you can’t stay in the closet, or work through an alias if you want to be successful.

Develop a way of sharing your business that does not come across as sales. Come up with something very professional to answer – what do you do?

Find and watch upper leaders and their social media channels who do social media well and you want to emulate. Study them for a few weeks and

write out what they do that you like and then look at your own business and determine how you can do something similar.

Use the 80/20 rule. No one wants to see you doing business all of the time, right? So keep it fun, social and add in your business in a strategic and smart way.

Stay out of sales mode – share something funny about your business; share a team success story; share a product story. Ask for advice from your customers on which product to use that day.

Don’t say – Join my team, or buy from me. Find a different way of sharing and not selling, that creates an interest and makes them want to know more!
