Member Spotlight - Jeff Baxter Mortgage TeamJeff Baxter always knew he wanted to “retire” to the Delaware beaches, and after his children were out of school, he moved here from suburban Washington DC. His time here, thus far, has been anything but retiring! In 2003, Jeff launched the Jeff Baxter Mortgage Team, under the umbrella of the national company Fairway Independent Mortgage. He joined the Chamber right away to take advantage of the various networking opportunities and get to know local real estate agents, and other professionals, and in 2008 Jeff joined the Chamber’s Board of Directors. Through the years, Jeff found his Chamber membership to be very valuable, most recently taking advantage of the Chamber’s website to offer as much information about his business as possible. According to Jeff, when a prospect calls as a result of finding him on the Chamber’s website, they already know a lot about him, “increasing the conversion rate of prospect to client.” Jeff was recently recognized by the Mortgage Executive Magazine as having mortgage origination volume (which is compensation for qualifying buyers, preparing the necessary paperwork, processing the mortgage, etc.) in the top 1% nationwide. According to Jeff the future is very bright for real estate in the Quiet Resorts, as “people are a little spooked by the current stock market performance, and see real estate as a better investment strategy.” He also adds “we have market demographics on our side, with more and more people choosing to move here at an increasing pace.” The future is equally bright for Jeff and his growing team; the Quiet Resorts are fortunate he chose to “retire” here!

The Bike Tour Needs You!

Volunteers are needed for the 27th Ocean to Bay Bike Tour presented by NV Homes and Ryan Homes. Shifts start on Tuesday April 12th packing the 2,000 swag bags for our cyclists. The fun continues on Friday, April 15th in the Expo Tent, located in the PNC Parking lot in downtown Bethany, where registration runs from 12:00 to 8:00 p.m. On the day of event, Saturday, April 16th, shifts begin at 6:30 a.m. and end at 4:00 p.m.

Do you want to volunteer closer to home? Help is also needed in all of our five rest stops located in the communities of Bay Forest, Bayside and Bishop’s Landing as well as at the PNC Bank in Selbyville and a location in Rehoboth. The north rest stop will be determined by the third week in March.

This event is a huge economic driver to the community, and the Chamber appreciates your willingness to step up and pitch in. If you are interested in volunteering, please email Lauren or call 302-539-2100 x118.
