Back in the Groove

Term 1 ends: Friday 13.04.18

Term 2 begins: Tuesday 01.05.18

Students have started to settle into the new rountines. It often takes most of term 1 to establish the new classes and form relationships with new teachers and friends, however, I am seeing lots of positive indications that everyone has their groove back.

Our school is looking clean and tidy again after the efforts of teachers and students on Clean Up Australia day. We picked up lots of rubbish around the school. Next month we will be having a visit from the Enviromentors who will come and talk about caring for our environment. We need our

community to lead by example so please make sure you set the right example for your children.

Everything got a bit crazy on ‘Funky Hair Day’ and the hair styles were fantastic. Thanks to the generosity of the community the school raised $225 for Leukaemia research. What a great cause!

Harmony Day is an opportunity for everyone at Arncliffe West to celebrate the wonderful diversity in our community.

The harmonious way students and parents work together in our school delights me every day and makes our school a special place to study and work.

Jellybeans have been learning about farm animals this month and extending their learning by setting up a farmers’ market and county fair in the preschool outdoor environment. Looks like fun in the pics on p10.

After we come back from Easter there will be only 2 weeks left before the school holidays so I have included some information for possible holiday activities in this newsletter.

A reminder that the carpark is an extremely dangerous place for children. All cars MUST reverse in when parking so that they have an unobstructed view when leaving. Please hold your child’s hand at all times in the carpark and DO NOT park in the disabled spot unless you have a sticker. Thank you for your co-operation. The P&C backed by our local member Steve Kamper, convinced the Education Minisiter, Rob Stokes, to retain the old Cairnsfoot site for

educational purposes. We are still unsure of the vision for the site but we can now be confident it will not be sold for apartments. Great outcome for the community.

Finally I hope that everyone enjoys some family time over the Easter break. This beautiful autumn weather is perfect for picnics and beach time.
