Students lent a hand to pick up litter and clean the playground on 'Clean Up Australia Day'. This along with ongoing environmental learning experiences, teaches the students the importance of caring for and protecting our planet.

At Parramatta North Public School we are committed to the Positive Beaviour for Learning (PBL) approach to the teaching and management of student behaviour. Twice a term green merit cards are awarded to students who have consistently demonstrated that they are safe and respectful learners. This means they are in the Green Zone. The blue and green small merit cards are kept at school until the students receive 10 blue/green cards. They will then be awarded with a gold merit award by the principal. Congratulations to 95% of our students who were in the Green Zone this term. Our goal is to work together to have 100% of students in the Green Zone. This would be an almighty achievement! Let's work together to achieve this for the end of Term 1!!!

Student Engagement with Learning Students have enjoyed using the new furniture and open classroom style of learning. Students are able to use the whiteboard tables to plan, collaborate and problem solve. The bean bags, stand up desks, hoki (wobble) stools and floor cushions are becoming fast favourites to work on. The new library furniture will be delivered shortly. All students K-6 will have an opportunity to engage with learning in this wonderful space.

Evacuation and Lockdown Drills It is mandatory in all NSW DoE schools for regular drills to be held to practise responses to either an evacuation or lockdown event. The days and the times of the drills should be varied in order that the students and staff have opportunities to practise these procedures. We will be having an evacuation drill during Week 6. Teachers will be talking to the students about the procedures for this drill. For this particular drill, the students will evacuate to Evacuation Area A. This is located on the large field area within the school grounds. In Week 7 we will be having a lockdown drill.

Mrs Kathryn Methven Principal  Staff News – Farewell Mrs Pizzuti! The students will farewell Mrs Pizzuti at 9am on Thursday, 8 March.
