In Memoriam: Rex O. DillowPlease join APPA in remembering APPA Member Emeritus Rex Dillow, whopassed away earlier this year. Dillow served in the U.S. Marines in World War IIand in the Korean and Vietnam wars. After retiring from the Marines, he servedas assistant director of facilities management at the University of MissouriColumbia until 1985. For APPA, Dillow wasdeeply involved in the ongoing development ofthe Institute for Facilities Management, APPApublications in general, and was the editorinchief for the first two editions of the FacilitiesManagement manual, which has evolved overthe years to become the current Body ofKnowledge (BOK). Lander Medlin Speaks at VAPPA State Conference APPA Executive Vice President Lander Medlin gave the keynote presentation tothe Virginia APPA (VAPPA) state conference on March 18 in Lexington, VA onthe campus of the Virginia Military Institute. Her address, "YOU Can Make aDifference," shared her message that leadership is personal and theresponsibility of everyone at all levels of an organization, and that we arestronger together when we are strong individually. She will deliver a similarmessage this week at the FLAPPA conference

University of Puget Sound to Open Athletics and Aquatics Centerin Fall 2016University of Puget Sound is moving forward with plans to enhance its athleticsfacilities, including the addition of a new aquatics center and an expansion ofthe fitness center. Complementing the existing Memorial Fieldhouse, built in1949, the $19.4 million project is expected to be completed by fall 2016 and willserve the needs of Logger athletic teams, as well as campus members,academic programs, and local community programs. A key priority in thecollege’s One [of a Kind] comprehensive campaign, the project is supported byfundraising that will continue through June 30, 2015. In all, 38,000 square feetwill be added to Memorial Fieldhouse, and 24,000 square feet of existing spacein the field house’s Pamplin Sports Center will be renovated. The aquaticscenter will include a 25yard pool with eight competitionwidth lanes and threewarmup lanes for instruction, rehabilitation, and therapy and also provideseating for nearly 400 spectators.
