From your Sr. Warden

St. Tim’s Family,

While the rector’s away, the parishioners will play? Actually, we have a great lineup

of priests, lay preachers and other speakers set for the summer, so as Joel takes his

sabbatical, there is every reason to keep on coming to St. Tim’s on Sunday mornings.

Have you ever noticed how much more energy and love is present when there are

lots of us in the pews? Let’s keep that energy flowing all summer long.

I know, sometimes you may be out of town (as Chris and I will be once or twice) and

that is a great opportunity to attend services someplace else. But don’t let old “St.

Mattress” tempt you into staying away, because you will be missed! This is not a guilt

trip, just a friendly invitation to continue to attend so we can worship together, and

then enjoy each other’s company at coffee afterwards.

On another subject, word of mouth is truly a powerful way to get information or an

idea out. That’s pretty much how Christianity got started, after all. Jesus recruited a

few key people, spread the word (or The Word, more accurately) to a relatively small

number of people, and The Word got around, growing His followers to hundreds, then

thousands and now millions upon millions. But it all started by word of mouth.

We have two positions we would like to fill here at St. Tim’s: our Parish Musician

position and our Youth Ministry Coordinator position. Both positions are very part time,

but very important to our parish life. If you know of someone that might be a fit, pass

the word, so we can continue to pass The Word. Suzie has job descriptions for both,

so ask her to send them to you if you would like more information.

We are blessed in so many ways at St. Tim’s. Have a great summer (which, rumor has

it, will actually start any day now!)

Sunday Healing Ministry at St. Tim’s

The Prayers for Healing are held on the second and fourth Sunday of the

month during Eucharist. The “station” is in the vestibule to the left of the piano.

Fr. Terry & Karen Haughn will be at the “station” during that time. If anyone

feels the need for prayer for healing and anointing with oil, please come to

the “station” after you have received communion and they will pray with and

for you. You are welcome to also pray for others who would benefit from

prayer for healing. All prayer requests, and/or the subject of the prayer will

remain strictly confidential. Sunday dates in July are the 14th and the 28th.

Every single One Dollar Bill that is placed in the offering plate will be

designated toward the Sunday Dollars Fund. For 2019 these funds will

go towards driveway and parking lot upkeep and repair.

Growlers Baseball

We have 41 people registered to attend the Growlers Tailgating Picnic and ball

game on July 27th! All youth under the age of 12 will receive a Growlers baseball

cap! Please pay for your tickets by July 1, either in the offering plate or Suzie’s in -

box (basket) on the table outside of the parish office door.

You’re Invited to make birthday cards and other items for the Care

Committee. If you are interested in joining a small group please call or text Kate

Bell at 317-319-6562 or email [email protected]. We will be meeting once a

month on a Friday morning (10:00 am until noon) at St. Tim’s. All supplies will be

provided. In July we will meet on Friday the 26th.

• Meaningful, Awesome Worship

• Loving, Inclusive Community

• Looking Beyond Ourselves to Serve God

• Honoring God’s Creation

The mission of the Christian Community called St. Timothy Episcopal Church

is to grow together in Jesus Christ.

We do this through worship, education, service,

offering up the talents God gives us for the glory of Christ

Clean-Up at St. Tim’s

Thank you to all the “Invisible” volunteers who continue to keep

St. Tim’s a beautiful place to worship. These folks come on their

own time to work on projects that we could not complete on

scheduled clean-up days. Projects that are pending are listed

below and can be completed any time that is more convenient

for you.

- Clean pews

- Social hall walls/woodwork

- Sunday school classrooms

- Kitchen (partially complete)

- Curtains in nursery

- Blinds in bookkeeping room

- Stain siding under sanctuary windows/facing parking lot

- Burn cut branches

- Clean up walking trails

Thank you for making St. Tim’s a beautiful place to worship!

Our Church is Beautiful! (I love that everyone is smiling

here while they work!)

Breakfast Project

Thank you to everyone who has signed up to serve during the week of

July 29 through August 2. It’s not too late – you can still sign up! Please

consider sharing your time with others who might not otherwise have a

good meal. It is a moving experience that you won’t soon forget. Please

sign the form in the foyer designating the day(s) you will be able to serve

and if you would like to start at 7:00 am or 8:00 am. We are especially in

need of additional help in the 7:00 am start time on Thursday and Friday.

We ask that everyone stay until all clean-up has been completed,

normally no later than 11:30 am.

Dear St. Tim's family,

We are holding a meeting of the Building and Grounds Committee, after

service, on Sunday June 30th. This will take place after service and is open to

whomever wants to attend. We will be taking a tour of the grounds to identify

needs for repair/maintenance and also dreaming about future uses. Over time we

will be discussing short-term and long-term goals as determined by the vestry and

ultimately will be able to present a long-term budgetary recommendation for

planning purposes. Everyone is welcome to take the tour of the property and

discuss how our beautiful facilities may be best used for God's Kingdom. Everyone

is welcome to serve on the committee and help make it happen.

Thank you for shopping at Harding’s!

This is such an EASY way to give to St. Tim’s while you’re shopping at Harding’s for your

groceries! There is no extra cost to you. A percentage of every purchase will be donated back

to St. Tim’s. If you have registered on-line, simply enter your phone # on the keypad at checkout.

If you have not yet registered, please stop by the parish office or give Suzie a call and she can

assist you. St. Tim’s could receive hundreds of dollars each quarter, just because you entered

your phone #!! How EASY is that??

You’re shopping anyway… right??

It could not be easier to give to St. Timothy’s as we go about our daily and seasonal shopping.

You can give while shopping for groceries at Harding’s or while shopping for the gifts, books,

‘anything’ on amazonSmiles.com. Suzie will be happy to help you sign up during parish office hours.

Consider On-Line Shopping at amazonSmiles.com

An additional opportunity to give to St. Tim’s while shopping is by registering for AmazonSmiles.

Perfect for those who enjoy shopping on–line! You will find the same pricing and even special

reduced pricing from AmazonSmiles.com not only when you purchase books, clothing, gift cards or

furniture, but also the opportunity to pre-purchase for many restaurants in the Kalamazoo area at a

great discount. A percentage of every purchase will be designated to St. Tim’s. You will not receive

the rewards if you use the regular amazon.com site. … You will be gifting to St. Tim’s general fund at

no extra cost to you! If you need help signing up at this site, let Suzie know and she’ll be happy to

help you.
