In planning for next year’s school organization, please return the “2017 Survey Form” sent home at the end of last week. Thank you.
At our last CSPC meeting, our parent executive was proud to announce that this year’s Dance-a-thon raised over $6,500! Thank you to everyone in our community for supporting this fundraiser, where profits will be redistributed to enhance our students’ learning opportunities. Due to this year’s suc-cess, CSPC added a sixth grand prize (also valued over $100) and allotted for a third class prize—free movie and popcorn. Our grand prize winners this year were: Rachel Draper, Rebecca Draper, Elliot Price, Caitlin Nuestro, Kaycee Capellan and Andy Drake. Our class winners were Ms. Joyce (FDK1), Ms. Clarke (gr. 2) and Mr. McElhinney (gr. 8). The primary classes have earned a free movie and popcorn afternoon and the Intermediates earned a free movie and pizza lunch. Congratulations!
When someone you care about hurts you, you can hold on to an-ger, resentment and thoughts of revenge — or embrace forgiveness and move forward.
Students of the Month (February)
Mission of Hope for Haiti Lenten Drive March 1 - April 7
Recently, the people in Haiti have suffered yet again another devastating blow due to Hurri-cane Matthew. This year, in co-operation with the Missionaries of the Poor, we are inviting
our schools to participate in a special Lenten Drive, A Mission of Hope for Haiti.
The school board's goal is to fill a 40-foot-long container with food, toiletries and school items that we may take for granted—e.g. food items, like rice and beans, toiletries, like toothpaste and toothbrushes, or school items, like pencils and pens. These items would be picked up from your school by volunteers from the Missionaries of the Poor, and through Canadian Food for Children, these items will be shipped to the Missionaries of the Poor to Haiti. Our school will contribute by filling a box to be included in the container. We need:
Food: Rice, dried beans, dried peas, dried lentils, canned tu-na fish, canned salmon, sardines, canned meat, canned vege-tables, canned fruit, dried fruit (e.g. raisins, dates, prunes) assorted snacks.
Toiletries: soap, detergent, toothpaste, toothbrushes, deo-dorant, shampoo, baby lotion, shaving cream, wipes, chil-dren diapers
School supplies: pencils, pens, notebooks, paper, schoolbags

The TCDSB is considering implementing an online application that would permit parents to make payments electronically through two methods.
Method 1: Parents can securely transfer funds from their bank account directly to an online ‘myWallet’ account. When they wish to make a payment to the school, they simply add an item to their shopping cart and pay for the item from their ‘myWallet’ account.
Method 2: Parents can use a credit card such as VISA or MasterCard
Using this electronic payment application, for large payments such as overnight trips, parents would also be able to pay through installments.
In order to offer this application, the TCDSB would have to charge a 1% administrative fee to help offset the cost of the application. To do this schools would set their charges 1% higher. For example, an item that costs $9.90 would cost $10.00.
At the time of the purchase, $9.90 would remain in the school account to pay for the item and $0.10 would go directly to the TCDSB central account to help offset the cost of the online application.
In order to gauge interest in such an online application, we are engaging in a consultation process, in the form of a short survey.
The survey is open now and will close on Tuesday 7 March at 12 noon.
