PRESIDENT’S CORNER The CSE II Annual Meeting was held on March 4, 2016, at Desert Hills and it was well attended.

Since there weren’t any volunteers to fill the (2) expiring terms on our board the (2) directors whose terms have expired have agreed to fill the vacancies. Thank you to Jan Farrington and Wendell Byram for standing for re-election.

ARCHITECURAL COMMITTEE COMMITTEE REPORT FOR ANNUAL MEETING

We have had much discussion re: view preservation and our CC&R’s language pertaining to same, specifically Section 12, 14 page 19. Our main objective as a board is to preserve property values and protecting view is a key element. At several of our recent board meetings we discussed how best to manage view issues. The question becomes do we enforce the CC&Rs across the board – meaning all vegetation (palm trees & ocotillo exempted) must be kept to parapet height or do we only enforce our parapet rule when there is a complaint? For clarification: we all have an obligation to abide by our CC&Rs. If there is a complaint and the vegetation exceeds the parapet height then the vegetation owner is obligated to trim to parapet height. If vegetation has been “let go” by the owner and not kept trimmed then the owner is still responsible for trimming – even if it endagers the health of a tree. When planting new vegetation an owner should take into consideration the potential height and trimming requirements.

Everyone has the right to expect thtat the CC&Rs will be enforced. So that everyone is aware, we plan to notify all those who have vegetation that is above the parapet. Even though there may at the present time not be a complaint there may well be one in the future and “putting-off” the necessary trimming could result in loss of the vegetation. We intend to give notice to all those who have vegetation above the parapet; however if there is not a complaint there will be no action taken.

The only exception will be in the event of a sale at which time the compliance check will require trimming if the Architectural Committee believe there is a potential for a future complaint.

COMMON AREA MAINTENANCE

January and February have been months of general cleanup, with trimming and removing some dying cactus and shrubs. Bushes have been cut back to provide visibility at our street intersections. Some mountain view requests have been acted upon and more are expected. Weeds have sprouted in the area and spraying will start the first week of March. We expect the increased rain we experienced last fall will call for increased spraying this year; maybe as much as five times. Jim Perkins

CSE II SOCIAL COMMITTEE

April 4 is the date chosen for this year's annual "Party at the Park." This event was

formerly known as the "Cul de Sac" Party. Last year for the first time we held it in the

grassy, shaded park area behind Canoa Hills Rec. Center. We will continue this outdoor

tradition on Monday, April 4 at the same location. Flyers will arrive at your doorstep in

Mid-March.

The Social Committee

What a great time the CSE II ladies had at the 5th luncheon held at San Ignatio on

January 20! When we started, the goal was to get to know more of our neighbors, and

get to know them by name. After 5 years, many of us feel we have done that, and that

many in the room were familiar by both face and name. (The coffee gatherings Carol

Copeland organizes are also great mixers!) We had an overflow crowd of 58 women with

smiling faces and laughter that seemed to make everyone glad they were there. There

were introductions of new members attending: Jane Barkley and Marie Leroy, friendly

comparisons of street attendance, raffle drawings and more! What a wonderful HOA we

have!

Please look at your listing in the current directory and check to see if it needs corrections or additions. Contact Lucy Redding by email with your changes.

Dog Owners: please let Lucy know if there are any changes or additions to the Doggy Directory located at the back of the current directory.

At this time you might want to also update/confirm your emergency contact information with your Block Captain. We want to have up-to-date information.

The newsletter is published five times a year: September, November, January, March and May. The last page of the newsletter contains a current list of those who are involved in HOA activities; the board members, the committee chairs and committee members.

Please share this information with everyone in the household. If there are additional email addresses for your household please let Ginny know and she will add them to the email blast when the newsletter is available.

GREEN VALLEY COUNCIL GOALS FOR 2016

The following goals were predicated upon successful completion of the goals for 2015 (copies of 2015 goals available upon request):

1. Improve and conserve the Sonoran Desert Environment through collaboration and coordination with Pima County, Median Green, and other Green Valley organizations, businesses, and nonprofits.

2. Improve communication with all community constituents, that are residents, property holders, and investors. Reach out to the business constituency to survey unmet needs.

3. Continue to maintain the fiscal viability of the Council by creating a standing committee that will focus on the development of multiple revenue sources.

4. Consider how the role of volunteerism may be improved to help maintain communication goals within and among Council members and the Green Valley community.

Please keep in mind that the Green Valley Council is predominately made up of over 200 VOLUNTEERS who willingly give of their time to identify as well as work diligently to fulfill these goals in order to make Green Valley a better place for ALL of us to live. KOLD Senior Health and Fitness Fair

March 11 @ 9:00 am - 3:00 pm

On Friday, March 11, 2016, Desert Diamond Casinos & Entertainment is hosting the KOLD Senior Health and Fitness Fair. This free event, which will run from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., will be held at Desert Diamond’s Sahuarita location in the courtyard area. The health fair is being presented as a partnership between Desert Diamond and KOLD News 13. Refreshments will be available throughout the event.

Guests at KOLD’s annual Senior Health and Fitness Fair will receive a variety of information about senior health and wellness.
