Need of the hour : Scientific spirituality

Present humanity has completely understood the physical laws and is using it. Now, science has to take a leap into new realm to provide solutions to the problems that are threatening the very existance of our planet. Global warming and other disruptions of Earth's weather systems and climate, mass starvation and disease epidemics, new threats of nuclear, religious, oil and water wars, environmental toxins and waste buildup, genetic engineering disasters, soil degradation and erosion, water pollution, increased discrepancies between extremes of poverty and wealth, etc. vie for status in our arsenal of species suicide weapons. Yet, we know in our hearts and minds and in our very bones that crisis looms so large now that we can no longer ignore it, that things must change quickly before it is too late.

Both Science and Spirituality deal with our experience of the world. Physical Science try to visualize the world as a set of events and processes in space and time and connected by a chain of causality whereas Spiritual Science explores the inner world where it transcends all boundaries of known concepts of space, time and causality. Spiritualism should be the framework where science, politics, business, arts and education should operate from. Only then can there be all round and integrated development. If not science will only succeed in creating silos of excellence which would benefit partsof the society and may even create conflict.

We want to present a new thinking for people who yearn for a new and inclusive scientific model of reality that does not separate their experience of this physical world from their spiritual experience of life, heart’s life story from that of the mind. This will bring forth a new world order that will foster greater understanding among people, harmony in their lives and an opportunity to work in unison and participate in the evolutionary process. With humankind this is something that is realistic and can be manifested in our lifetime .

(This series is based on the book “Astonishing Power of the Bio-Physical and the subtle energies of the

Human body” by Pt. ShriRam Sharma Acharya)

The subtle science of human body

In the previous issue we saw an introduction to the biomagnetic phenomenon present in the human body and

how scientists made initial attempts to uncover and learn about this fascinating subject. In this episode we will

delve deeper and look at this subtle science and its presence in the human body.

Electrical pressure caused by cosmic rays and its effect on human body

An unlimited resource of electrical energy forms the basis

of Nature. The discovery of this fact and persistent efforts

to utilize this immense power of Nature has been of great

help in scientific and technological developments of our

age. The space between the earth's strata and the

Ionosphere contains positive potential of about 3x 105

volts while the earth's interior contains an equivalent

amount of negative charge. On an average, every living

organism on the earth bears a subtle electrical pressure

of the order of 5 volts/meter created by the lowest layer of the ionosphere situated about 60 Km above the

earth's surface. This potential generates an electric current in the human body which is a good conductor of

electricity [1]. The measurements by sophisticated instruments have shown that this current is of the

magnitude of 10-16 amp.sec/cm2. At a first glance, this small quantity of current may appear to be negligible.

Nevertheless, its effects are incredible because of the existence of some subtle power centers in the human-

body.

The scientific exposition presented here is focused on the subtle power centers in the human-body whose

existence is manifested in the forms of bioelectricity and biomagnetism. The subtle bioelectrical energy

provides the vital force for the body's functioning and governs mental activities. Human body simulates an

'ocean' consisting of infinitely many 'rivers' in the form of blood vessels and the nerves. Each respiratory cycle

gives rise to high and low tides of currents in this 'Ocean' at an average rate of about 15 cycles/minute. The

technique of electric power generation from the tides and cyclones in the sea water is well known today.

However, very few people know that the electric ions inhaled from the surrounding atmosphere during each

respiratory cycle give rise to a powerful electrical flow in our body.

Our body can be represented as a grand powerhouse. The brain and the heart work respectively like the

generator and the transmitter of the bioelectricity (ionic currents) in the body. The bioelectric energy is

distributed amongst the body’s cells as per their functional requirements. This electricity, in conjunction with the

subtle (vital) energy of a person, generates biomagnetism which in turn manifests itself in the aura (halo of

light) around one's body. The atmosphere above the earth is charged with the strength of a wide variety of

energy waves within or beyond the range of the X, Gamma, Beta, Infrared, Ultraviolet, or laser types of

radiations. The human body constantly receives such cosmic radiations and transmits similar ones in the

surrounding atmosphere. Enormous amount of this energy remains stored in the human body and manifests its

power in terms of its various macro or molecular functions governed by universal physico-chemical laws.

The huge electric capacitor of the earth and its atmosphere is like a Global Capacitor. This capacitor is

dynamic and continuously subjected to electrical fluctuations. It emits the waves of natural frequency range of

about 7 to 8 cycles per second. These waves constantly resonate between the earth's surface and the

ionosphere and give rise to the Schumann Resonance[2]. It is a significant coincidence that these waves

closely resemble the electrical waves that are active in the human brain. Both are active at the same frequency

[3][4][5]. A more detailed scientific analysis can be found here at hese project[6].

Further, a strong electrical field also exists deep inside the Geonucleus. An electric current of about one

ampere is flowing in each cm2 of this region. As this current spreads throughout the geosphere it gathers

strength and begins to follow a spiral path. This current gives rise to the electromagnetic storms which also

influence various cellular and molecular components of the human body.

In the human body, it is found that a powerful electrostatic field exists in most tissues of our body. These

electric fields activate the neurons in the brain and, under the energized control of small amounts of

neuropeptide, affect the membrane potential across the cells in other parts of the body.

The human body consists of over 75 x 1012 cells. There exist an electrical potential of about 60 to 90 millivolts

across the membrane of each cell. The body is thus a strong electrical powerhouse. Every important function

of this system- such as the heart beating, nerve and muscle stretching and contraction, hormonal secretion,

information processing by the central nervous system etc. - involves electrical activity. During respiration we

inhale negative ions which are absorbed in the blood corpuscles and are spread throughout the whole body

with the circulation of blood. These ions are discharged back into the atmosphere through the skin pores. This

electrical cycle continues throughout our life.

The endocrine gland (Sushumna Nadi) is described by the scientists as a permanent electric dipole whose

negatively charged lower (south) pole resides in the Kava Equina (Muladhar) in the centre of the genital organs

and the positively charged upper (north) pole lies in the cerebrum (Sahasrar). In all living organism the

electrical flows through the spinal cord are directed downwards. Distinctly, the human body alone is enriched

with such a strong vital energy which if evoked under proper Sadhana processes of Yoga would reverse the

direction of this flow and strengthen the functioning of the brain by activating the otherwise unused subtle

centers of energy existing there.

The total electrical pressure of about 105 volts per centimeter exists in the human body which is continuously

lost by exhalation through the skin pores and the genital organs. This loss could be reduced by dedicated

practice of the control (Sanyam sadhana) processes of yoga and meditation as described in the ancient Indian

scriptures. The electrical energy saved thereby could be utilized for elevating one's biomagnetic level and lead

to an increase in one's charm, activeness, courage, patience, sharpness etc. Under specific spiritual practices

this energy could also be used in awakening of the subtle parts of the innermost center of the divine

sentiments existing in every human being. Spiritual experts examine the personality of an individual by

'reading' the (biomagnetic) aura around his/her body and suggest the appropriate line of practice accordingly.

Great personalities with higher spiritual level naturally have their subtle and astral bodies in the awaken state.

The power of their biomagnetism can be easily seen in terms of their aura around their physical body

especially around their face and fingers. One finds divine attraction in them. The ancient Indian scriptures

describes in detail, the science, philosophy and methods of practicing various spiritual processes (Yoga and

Sadhanā) meant for increasing the 'positive' biomagnetism and thereby nourishing the will-power, intellect and

other mental and physical abilities. These methods deal with micro-subtler forms of the vital mechanisms

inside the human body.

In the next episode we will take a look at the mysterious subtle structure of the human body and also

biomagnetism with different levels of human consciousness.

How Does Chitragupta (sub-conscious mind) Maintain the Record?

In the last edition, the reader has been introduced to the concept that our sub-conscious mind itself operates

as the deity Chitragupta. In the neurons of the inner chambers of the mind, the sub-conscious mind keeps a

continuous micro-record of our good and evil deeds in a condensed form like the recordings on a small

compact disc. The writings of Sub-conscious mind could be regarded as shorthand notes taken by the Divine

stenographer, Chitragupta, for presentation as testimony for objective evaluation of the total span of our life.

In this edition let us discuss the working of Chitragupta (sub-conscious mind). Why and how this deity

evaluates the deeds of a person and what are the yardsticks of this evaluation? We shall also find out how

after physical death, the lines of fate drawn by Chitragupta determine a soul’s new incarnation in conditions of

hell or heaven.

We are aware that human mind works on two levels- one external and the other internal. The outer mind is

analytical. It analyses the pros and cons, accepts and discards, takes decisions and changes resolutions. The

inner mind, on the other hand, is like an innocent but resolute child. It neither accepts nor discards anything,

but as the true faithful representative of the Divine, it functions impartially towards Divine justice. The external

mind may think of escaping punishment by suppressing or overlooking the recordings of the lines of evil deeds

and highlight only the virtuous deeds for reward. The inner mind (conscience is one of its constituents), on the

other hand, works differently. It takes decisions like an unbiased judge of highest integrity, who cannot be

influenced by allurement, fear or vested interest. It is said that in each human being there co-exist a saint and a

devil. You may consider the secret inner mind as a representative of Divinity and the external mind, which is

ever engaged in reasoning, rationalizing, deliberating, conspiring and hypocrisy, as a tool of the devil. The

external mind may deceive by justifying each and every action of a person. The inner-mind, on the contrary, is

the flame of the soul and a projection of the Absolute Truth. It is, therefore, incapable of conceit and deceit and

is innately calm and detached. That is why God has entrusted it with such a crucial responsibility. For the

common man, it is the deity Chitragupta. Being absolutely impartial, this deity has been given the high seat of

Divine Judge. Like a secret service agent, this deity is all the time vigilantly shadowing a person and recording

action in the secret diary.

In human society, there are two departments for punishing the violators of law - the police and the court of

justice. The police arrest the accused, collect the evidence and present in the court of law. Thereafter the

process of justice takes over. The judge delivers the judgment after considering all aspects of the offence and

related circumstances. Depending on the circumstantial evidence, individuals are handed down varied

sentences for the same type of offence.

Let us consider an example. Three people are accused of killing

a person. Due to different circumstances associated with the

crime, one is set free, the second person is sentenced to five

years of imprisonment and the third is sent to the electric chair.

The person, who was released, was a mason. While working at

an elevated label, he had accidentally dropped a brick, which

killed a passer. The presiding judge found that the brick was

dropped accidentally and unintentionally, without an ulterior

motive. Hence the accused was released without any punishment. The second accused was a farmer. Finding

a thief stealing his crop, he had given him a fatal blow. Taking the circumstances, which prompted the offence,

the judge considered that though it was natural for the farmer to show his anger on finding someone stealing

his property, nevertheless, since he had over-reacted to a small offence, a sentence of five year imprisonment

was given. The third person was a notorious robber who had robbed a rich man and intentionally killed him in

the process. In this way the worldly court of justice pronounces judgment after minutely examining all

circumstantial evidence.

In the inner-mind the secret recordings of Chitragupta or sub-conscious mind discharge the dual responsibility

of the police and court of justice. In the material world, if the prosecutor presents inadequate or false evidence,

the judgment of the court is likely to be unfair but in the inner occult world there is absolutely no possibility of

such miscarriage of justice. The inmost mind, being the direct and transparent witness to all physical as well as

mental activities of a person, is holistically aware of the intentions, motives and circumstances of each and

every action. Being holistically informed, the sub-conscious mind does not require the testimony of the external

mind to arrive at a conclusion.

Bring into play the almighty power within you, so that on the stage of life you can fulfill your high destined role. - Paramahamsa Yogananda

Page 10: March 2010- Vol 1, Issue 2

www.th8revolutions.com 10

In Divine Justice the gravity of a sin (vice) or merit of a virtue is decided on the basis of the motive and degree

of emotional involvement with the deed. Whereas in the material world objects are measured materially on the

basis of their mundane worth, this measure is irrelevant for dispensing Divine Justice. The material world may

ignore a poor donor of ten cents and admire a person donating ten thousand dollars. But in Divine

Jurisprudence the worth of such acts of altruism will not be assessed on this gross physical basis.

Let us take an example. In a remote, undeveloped tribal area, one

may barter a kilogram of food grains for sugar, but in a developed

country one has to pay in hard currency. In the material world,

people do earn fame and name by making large contributions to

charity, helping in popular welfare activities, joining religious or

charitable institutions, delivering or listening to sermons and

participating in pilgrimages; but the “Domain of Chitragupta” does

not accept this currency. The ledgers of this domain record only

debits and credits of motives and emotional involvements in the

performance of deeds and convert these into virtues and sins

accordingly.

The Deep Roots of Dreams

The origin of dreams is elucidated in the Yoga Sutra as a result of causal or incidental transition of mind from

its conscious to unconscious state or from a state of cognition and retention to that of subtler impulses of

mental activities. Whatever one experiences in the subconscious state of sleep, is often seen by him as a

dream as per the natural tendencies of his mind and body.

The ancient science of Indian medicine (Ayurveda) classifies the natural tendencies of mind and body in three

principal categories of pitta, vata and kafa. Frequent scenes of fire and light in the dreams are characteristics

of the pitta tendencies. The people having vata as the major tendency often see sky and experience winds and

movements in space in their dreams. The

dreams of those having kafa tendency are

preoccupied with varieties of scenes associated

with water –– ponds, rivers and sea etc.

Professor Kelvin is a reputed psychologist and expert of dream sciences in the U.S.A. His views largely

coincide with the explanations of the Indian philosophers. He defines dreams as collective manifestation of

varied imaginations and reactions of the unconscious mind during sleep. Experiments on study of dreams

affirm that the activities of the inner mind continue even in the dormant state of the conscious (external) mind.

The conscious activities, flow of thoughts and associated visual representations disappear in this state.

Impulses of the unconscious (subliminal) mind are then reflected as dreams.

Your task is not to seek for love, but merely to seek and find all the barriers within yourself that you have built against it.

Sleep, Dreams, And Spiritual Reflections - II

Page 12: March 2010- Vol 1, Issue 2

www.th8revolutions.com 12

The proportion and intensity of visual reflections in dreams is more prominent than the instances of speaking

and hearing. This is why dreams are usually referred as “seeing a dream” or “saw in the dream…” etc.

hysicaland Biological sciences do noyt provide definite reasons or logical elucidation of dreams. Even the

existence of dreams is doubted here, as no specific neuronal activity

could be attributed to the origin and nature of dreams. It is said that

the countless inscriptions in the memory –– constituted by whatever

we have ever perceived, thought or felt, are inconsequentially or

systematically retrieved and expressed from time to time via dreams.

But the deeper depths of memory and its hidden linkage with the

subtle dimensions of consciousness remain unexplained in such

‘scientific’ interpretations. Modern research in Psychology and

related Neurosciences too leaves the mystic nature of dreams

largely unapprised. Investigations into the occult psychological

aspects and the subliminal reflections of the inner mind –– is a

subject matter of spirituality which allows comprehensive analysis of dreams too.

Ms. Oscho Rokheodova of Russia had become blind, deaf and dumb at the age of five. Despite losing these

principal faculties, she demonstrated outstanding talents in writing. Her brilliant book “My Perceptions and

Conceptions of the World” highlights her experience with dreams. In her views, one can dream and feel the

different movements and happenings in a dream without seeing it through the eyes. Scientific elucidation of

such possibilities indicates that a blind person may not have visual perception of the scenes appearing in a

dream but the smell and sound of the associated objects and activities might enable him experience the

dreams.

It is said that the type and quality of dreams usually depends upon one’s

intrinsic nature, tendencies and inclinations. It is also argued that by

controlling his inner powers one can control the nature of his dreams too.

Maharshi Ved Vyas mentions in the “Brahma Sutra” that –– dreams of a

serene and intuitive mind often indicate the major events of future. By

prudent decipheration of these subtle indications and arousing the will-power

of the inner self, one can minimize the negative consequences of the ill

omen or unfortunate events and may attempt enhance the gravity of the

favorable times kept in the stock of future.

The modern researchers have also begun to recognize the predominant role

of the inner (unconscious) mind in the dreams of deep-sleep.

Analysis of specific categories and characteristics of dreams might be used to elucidate the hidden secrets and

complexities of human psychology and to help diagnosis and treatment of psychosomatic and psychiatric

problems. This would lay the scientific foundation of Dream Therapy. The ancient science of spirituality may be

reinvestigated to expand the scope of this research.

Spiritual attitude induces ever-new enthusiasm and inspiration in a scientist's inquisitive mind. If a scientist

adopts a spiritual attitude towards existence, his research will be more purposeful and beneficial for the welfare

of mankind and the world. Spiritual attitude of a scientist leads his findings towards benevolent goals. Nobel

Laureate Max Planck (b. 1858 – d. 1947) was among the scientists of this distinct caliber whose highly gifted

genius never lost sight of spirituality in the glitter of epochal scientific inventions and achievements. This great

founder of Quantum Mechanics was always interested in borderline problems of physics and philosophy and

published many addresses and articles in this domain. Planck was interested in Truth and Universe beyond

observation, and objected to atheism as an obsession with symbols. At the same time he, despite being an

ardent Christian, was against the Church organizations' demands for unquestioning belief.

He was averse to religious intolerance and also to the prevailing misconceptions on fate. In his views, as

conveyed in a translation of his speeches on related topics, “It is a dangerous act of self-delusion if one

attempts to get rid of an unpleasant moral obligation by claiming that human action is the inevitable result of an

inexorable law of nature. The human being who looks upon his own future as already determined by fate, or

the nation that believes in a prophecy which states that its decline is inexorably decreed by a law of nature,

only acknowledges a lack of will power to struggle and win through”. Much like the rishis, the Indian scientists

of spirituality, the God in which Max Planck believed was an Almighty, Omniscient, Benevolent but

Transcendent Spirit that permeated everything, every manifestation of Nature, including the physical laws.

His views reflect the natural approach of scientific spirituality. For example, he writes

in “Where Is Science Going?” [Book by Max Planck, with a Prologue by Albert

Einstein, Translation and biographical note by James Murphy; New York: W. W.

Norton & Co., 1932],— “We must admit that the mind of each one of our greatest

geniuses — Aristotle, Kant or Leonardo, Goethe or Beethoven, Dante or

Shakespeare — even at the moment of its highest flights of thought or in the most

profound inner workings of the soul, was subject to the causal fiat and was an

instrument in the hands of an Almighty law which governs the world.” Max Planck

(baptized name: Karl Ernst Ludwig Max Planck) was born in Kiel to Johann Julius Wilhelm Planck and his

second wife, Emma Patzig. His was a traditional, intellectual family. His paternal great-grandfather and

grandfather were both Professors of Theology at Gottingen, Germany. His father was a Professor of Law at

Kiel and Munich. His paternal uncle was a judge. Little Max was born with sharp intellect and creative talents.

Since you alone are responsible for your thoughts, only you can change them. You will want to change them when you realize that each thought creates according to its own nature. Remember that the law

works at all times and that you are always demonstrating according to the kind of thoughts you habitually entertain. Therefore, start now to think only those thoughts that will bring you health and

happiness. - Paramahamsa Yogananda

Music was his first love but Physics fascinated him, too. He was curious to know about the universe and

wondered about who would have created it? His grandfather often used to encourage his quest and inspire

him to look deeper into the depths of the phenomena of Nature. Perhaps, his theological views had motivated

Planck's brilliant mind to look at a unified force working behind every activity of Nature, even the tiniest particle

of matter existing in it.

His creative approach to science is so finely articulated in one of his articles, where he says (translated version

of original German text)–“Science means unflinching endeavor and continually progressing development

towards an objective, which the poet's intuition may comprehend, but the scientist's intellect can never fully

grasp…” After his early education at Kiel till 1874, Max Planck pursued his higher studies at Munich and

obtained a doctorate (Ph. D.) in Physics from University of Munich at the age of 21. His thesis was titled “Über

den zweiten Hauptsatz der mechanischen Wärmetheorie (On the second fundamental theorem of the

mechanical theory of heat). He continued his fundamental research in Thermodynamics and related areas of

Theoretical Physics.

He obtained many important results and became a full professor at the University of Berlin in 1892. Noted

scientists and theologians like Albert Einstein and Adolf von Harnack were among his close friends there.

While working on a project to produce maximum light from light bulbs with minimum energy, he turned his

attention to the problem of “Black-body Radiations”: How does the intensity of the electromagnetic radiation

emitted by a black-body (a perfect absorber) depend on the frequency (e.g. color of light) of the radiation and

the temperature of the body?” The question was posed by Kirchoff way back in 1859 and had been explored

experimentally, but no theoretical treatment agreed with experimental values, despite the dedicated attempts of

many contemporary scientists. Planck too had tried out several solutions – including the Wien-Plank law, but

much to his frustration nothing could convincingly explain the experimental observations.

In a mood of despair one evening he sat alone in the living room and started playing his piano. He was truly

gifted when it came to music. In school days itself he took singing lessons and played piano, organ and cello,

and composed songs and operas. So much so, that his Physics professor Philipp von Jolly himself had

advised Max against going

into Physics, saying, “in this field, almost everything is already discovered, and all that remains is to fill a few

holes.” Planck replied that he did not wish to discover new things, he wanted only to deeply understand the

knowable fundamentals of the field. His creative talent in music flourished along with his deeper studies and

research in the dry subject like Physics.

There are only two ways to live your life. One is as though nothing is a miracle. The other is as though everything is a miracle. - Einstein

Page 16: March 2010- Vol 1, Issue 2

www.th8revolutions.com 16

Music was much more than only a means of recreation for him. His family (wife Marie Merck and children: sons

Karl and Erwin and twin daughters Emma and Grete) also used to enjoy his and his friends' musical

performances. Often on the weekends the Planck home used to appear like a social and cultural centre.

Several of his friends (mostly scientists and Professors at the university) used to visit them and participate in

the mini-musical programmes. Well, so it was not new for his family to find him engrossed in playing his piano.

But, that day was somewhat distinct. His eagerness to resolve the research problem that was sitting in his

head since several years, coupled with a feeling of despair – due to failure of all thorough efforts so far - was

making a special effect. Along with the music he also got immersed in the memories of his father and

grandfather. Their photographs were kept in the living room and he often used to tell his children the stories of

his childhood, especially about his grandfather's theological lessons. Couple of times he had also experienced

that his grandfather was 'preaching' him in dreams. Memories of his grandfather and the intense flow of piano's

melody that evening seemed to have taken his heart into the sublime realms of Nature. He experienced unique

joy. He did not realize when he felt asleep. In the dream he found himself in a pool of light. There was serene

music of Nature in absolute silence. He then saw his grandfather, whose face also appeared as emitting light.

He heard as though his grandfather was telling him – “Look Max, everything is made up of subtle

energyparticles, whether it is an element of matter or light. These energy-particles flow continuously at a fixed

rate.”

He woke up suddenly after the dream, full of new energy and ideas.

He could not sleep any more that night. He also reached the

university much early next morning and started working on his

papers. The dream sparked a 'scientific intuition' in his mind, some

words echoed in his mind sounding like “fixed quantity”, “common

energy”, etc. His sharp and prepared brain, which was so thorough in

analyzing different aspects of energy-radiation, got it right. “Yes it

must be that energy moves in fixed quantity” - he hypothesized. He

modified his earlier theory and jotted down new formulae. His new theory described the experimentally

observed black-body spectrum well. The central assumption behind this new derivation, presented to the DPG

on 14 December 1900, was the supposition that energy could be emitted only in quantized form, in other

words, energy could only be a multiple of an elementary unit (called

'quantum'). This is what formed the basis of Quantum Mechanics, which

gave new direction to Physics and scientific and technological research and

developments thereafter.

Science has advanced a long trajectory since Planck's Quantum Theory

and Einstein's Theory of Relativity. But the goal of deciphering the Nature

and unfolding the ultimateTruth is still far from sight a century later. A holistic approach synthesizing spirituality

along with integration of natural and social sciences would be the best option in the new millennium to proceed

in the right direction towards plumbing deeper depths of reality. Perhaps Max Planck also envisaged it when he

wrote — “I regard consciousness as fundamental. I regard matter as derivative from consciousness. We

cannot get behindconsciousness. Everything that we talk about, everything that we regard as existing,

postulates consciousness” [c.f. The Observer, January 25, 1931]. Planck also perceived the eternal bond

between natural sciences and spirituality, as he remarked — “Both religion and science require a belief in God.

For believers, God is in the beginning, and for physicists, He is at end of all considerations… To the former, He

is the foundation, to the latter, the crown of the edifice of every generalized world view”. [c.f. Religion and

The Wonders of the Negligible

Subtler forms of matter and energy, and the subliminal currents of conscious force are exponentially more

powerful than their gross manifestations. All activities of the material world are regulated at the atomic level.

So, what is an atom? It is an ensemble of orbiting electrons and the nuclear protons and neutrons or still

subtler particles

The key is to harness this energy strategically. Utilizing the potency – the energy, of the drug constituents

forms the basis Homeopathy. Under this principle, medicines are formulated in very minute doses. The

quantity is minimum, yet appropriate, for a gentle remedial effect. This concept of minimum dose lead to the

discovery of a practical process called potentisation

Darwin, the father of the “Theory of Evolution” was also interested in the subtler fields of energy. A Dutch

scientist had apprised him of the finding that even a one hundred thousandth fraction of a grain of Atropine

affects the eyes. Darwin described his experience in an affirmation, saying –– “In one experiment, I have seen

how a millionth part of a milligram of Ammonia could stimulate an artery. A hundred and twenty millionth

fraction of a tiny crystal of common salt also causes similar effects”.

Dr. A. Singer had shown that whatever effect a milliliter of an acid would cause on the healthy body, similar

would be the reaction of its two hundred thousandth milliliter. Dr. Schussler had shown that if one eats large

quantity of salt, it would have instant negative reaction and also cause harmful effects since only a negligible

amount of salt is sufficient for normal functioning of the cells. Larger concentrations of the same disturb the

trans-membrane ionic currents along with other negative effects on the harmony of cellular and biochemical

reactions. If the ratio of hydrochloric acid in water is 1:100 at the body-temperature, then it would help easy

The truth you believe and cling to makes you unavailable to hear anything new

digestion of the gluten of the pulses and fibril of other grains. But little rise in its concentration would rather

suppress the digestive power instead. Still larger amount would be damaging. The iron content of milk is a very

important factor since it is a healthy food. Almost a millionth fraction of a milligram of iron is present in in 250

grams of milk! It sounds negligible. But nature has adjusted everything so optimally. A little more of this

amount would, on the contrary, make milk too heavy to be digested. The vital role of the red blood corpuscles

(RBC) in healthy maintenance of life is well known. The ideal component of iron in these cells is a major factor

that accounts for the power of hemoglobin in the RBCs. This content also is very small. One RBC is about

twelve millionth of an inch in size. A small drop of blood is constituted by about 0.3 million of such particles.

How much iron could this tiny particle contain? Here again the subtle amount makes all the difference.

The root of manifestation of life in a human form is also so subtle. The zygote is formed by the union of the

sperm with the ovum, which is about a millionth of a cubic millimeter in size. Isn’t it surprising that the

marvelous creation of the human body is contained in such a microstructure – which can’t even be seen

without an electronic microscope?

Sperm cell penetrates an ovum, resulting in fertilization of an egg. The zygote or fertilized

egg develops into an embryo. A 'full term' delivery generally occurs around 40 weeks.

A bottle containing saffron smells of its heavenly incense even after it has been emptied and washed several

times. This again reflects the significant impact of the subliminal power of matter.

In our day to day life, we feel that the gross world, the visible facts of life is routine and appear ordinary and

unattractive. We hardly find time to notice anything special or important. But, if we pay a little attention and

think little deep, we would find the excellence of order, inexplicable perfection, and absolute art of Nature in it.

A new world, a new experience of life, beyond what we knew at superficial level would also express its

existence as we enter deeper in our thoughts, knowledge, and realizations. The physical world as well as the

subtle world of thoughts, sentiments and spiritual realization, every impulse of existence in the subliminal

expansion of consciousness, is astonishing, and provided limitless source of knowledge.

Acquisition of greater knowledge is possible through spirituality and understanding subliminal forms of Nature.

A sincere endeavor to dive would open the door for elucidation of the absolute truth. Such attempts in the

domain of physical (material or perceivable) world have led to scientific understanding and developments.

Those pertaining to the world of thoughts, sentiments and spirituality fall under the auspices of the yoga-

sadhanas and provide the key to blissful enlightenment and astonishing attainments. In-depth study of science

and spirituality enhances the possibility of greater success and accomplishments in both the dimensions and

True intelligence operates silently. Stillness is where creativity and solutions to problems are found.

thus enable reaching higher realms of virtuous life. Transformation of the visible forms of existence into the

invisible and vice-versa is quite natural, although, it might, at times appear mysterious because of our

ignorance. Matter could be converted into energy and energy could be expressed or manifested in material

form. This is factual in the fields of physico-chemical sciences. This universal law also applies in the subliminal

realms of Nature.

“The Brah® –– the Omnipresent Supreme Consciousness manifests itself in Maya – the physical world, the

perceivable expression of Nature. Maya is ultimately absorbed in the Brah®”. These implications of the

Vedanta Philosophy sound too esoteric and confusing in general. It is difficult to decipher and realize the deep

knowledge conveyed therein. However, as the modern science is moving deeper into the subtler forms of

matter and energy, it is tending closer towards the ancient sciences and is gradually unfolding the hidden

secrets of Nature and its subliminal core. It may be hoped that one day it would elucidate the realization of the

Omnipresent Consciousness existing in every living being as well as every form of matter.

The science of Physics may be broadly classified as that pertaining to –– (i) Matter and (ii) Energy. Material

forms are those, which can be perceived by our sense organs. These can be collected or measured in three

different, mutually transformable states, namely, solid, liquid and gas. Energy corresponds to the source of

power, or force, contained in matter and in the universal expansion of nature. Heat, Light, Electricity,

Magnetism, Sound, etc are different forms of energy. Existence of energy expands in the form of waves. This

cannot be measured directly but can be realized in terms of their potential manifestation in the activities of the

physical world.

The solids do not change their state, size, and shape without any external force, or mechanical or chemical

cause of change. The interconnections between the molecules and atoms provide this rigidity to a solid form of

matter. The mutual force of attraction between the molecules of a liquid is rather weak. Therefore, liquids flow

under the law of pressure-gradient. These adopt the shape of the container. The molecules of gas do not have

any binding of mutual force. These are therefore free to move in all directions and can therefore diffuse. All the

three states of a single element are quite different from each other in terms of physical and chemical

properties. Variation in the energy level may bring drastic changes in the state of matter. For example, at

reduced heat – below 0oC water becomes ice and with warming – above 100oC it boils and evaporates as

steam.

The molecules that constitute matter and the atoms that constitute a molecule are in constant motion. Their

velocity increases with temperature. The change in the temperature or pressure causes rearrangements of the

molecules and eventually results in transformation of state. At a very low temperature, a piece of iron may be

A person does not have to be behind bars to be a prisoner. People can be prisoners of their own concepts and ideas. They can be slaves to their own selves.

converted into rough crystals like that of sand. Variation in molecular energy may transform the form of a

substance so much that it would be difficult to recall or infer about its original form.

Whatever we see through our eyes is not the ultimate truth. The sky appears as a limitless blue vast expanse.

Thick layer of water in a deep pond or river looks greenish. But the scientific fact is– the skies as well as water

are both colorless. It is the effect of the reflection or refraction of light through specific angles gives the

appearance of the color of an object. Whichever color or combination of colors (out of the seven principle

colors of light-spectrum) a flower reflects (after absorbing the other colors) appears as its color. The same is

true of the color of fruits, paints, cloths, and other things we see anywhere in this world. What appears

stationary or stable around is not so in reality. Vibratory and rotatory movements of their molecules make

existence possible. Appearance of a smooth surface is also an illusion. The surface of a mica coated table

would look so smooth and shining. But a closer look with a microscope would reveal wavy nature. Likewise,

water appears homogeneous in appearance and in reality has “spaces” in its molecular structure. It is this

property that renders water as an excellent universal solvent enabling it dissolve salts, sugars and serve an

important biological function.
