West Beach Bar & Grill is THE JAM SPOT in White Rock. In addition to the FP Sunday Night Jams hosted by Sami, Wednesdays and Thursdays promise to deliver great jams, music and entertainment! Chris Charlton hosts the open mic Waymore Wednesdays. What tends to be a quiet night every where else on the beach becomes a rocking scene on the west side. A local White Rock boy, Chris performs, jams and introduces the great local talent that come out to join him for a night of fun music. Chris is an unique artist with a bluesy southern rock style which is reflected in his own original material. And when everyone joins in the music is always rocking. Shawn Miller hosts the Thursday Night Campfire Jam. Shawn is an incredible talent who sings and plays an amazing lead guitar. The music is Rock’n’Roll and Shawn’s love for the classics comes out in his performances. Shawn is often joined by many talented players and Thursday nights at West Beach have become the perfect way to get ready for the weekend. But we can’t mention Jam Nights without a shout-out to Brad Sakiyama whose drumming and energy provide the heart of the beat.

As a solo acoustic artist, Steve began crafting his sound paying tribute to blues masters such as Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, Howlin' Wolf and John Lee Hooker. Steve has also evolved into an inspired songwriter and producer, testifying his own life experiences through his songs that echo the sounds of the Mississippi Delta. In March 2003, after putting together a powerful five piece blues band, Mud Dog released its debut CD "Devil's Ride”, featuring 11 original songs written and produced by Sainas, as well as two traditional arrangements. In 2008, Mud Dog released their second CD “River of My Soul” that features 11 new original acoustic songs written and produced by Sainas. Both albums have been praised and are receiving regular airplay. In 2011, Steve along with his harmonica player, Christopher Allen, were honoured to have been selected by the White Rock Blues Society to represent BC at the 27th Annual International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. In February 2011, they competed in the solo/duo blues category with 83 of the best blues acts in the world. While in Memphis, Steve and Christopher recorded ten original acoustic songs live off the floor at legendary Sun Studio. These recordings capture the raw energy of the duo's live performances. That album, “Sun", was released on July 8th, 2011 and is now available to order or download on CD Baby and iTunes. SUN climbed to #24 on the Canadian Roots Music Charts in November 2011. During the day, Steve shares his love for music with his students while teaching Rock School, Recording Arts, and Guitar at Terry Fox Secondary School. He established these programs in 2000/2001 and has developed them into one of the most successful music programs in public education. In 2008/2009, the Terry Fox Secondary Music Program was awarded a $10,000.00 BandAid Grant by CARAS/MusiCounts and in March 2009 Terry Fox Secondary was selected to host the kick-off ceremony for the 2009 Juno Awards where the music program was presented with their MusiCounts Grant. In 2015, Steve was honoured to win the Juno Award for MusiCounts Teacher of the Year. The balance of performing, recording and teaching music has proven to be a very rewarding lifetime passion for Steve that he hopes to continue sharing for many more years. Steve "Mud Dog" Sainas has been a g u i t a r i s t / s i n g e r / s o n g w r i t e r i n Vancouver's cabarets and pubs for the past thirty years. During this time, he has developed a powerful blues guitar and singing style that is instantly recognized by his growing audience. Most recently, Steve has returned to enjoying performing and recording as a solo acoustic artist with a broad repertoire that includes early roots-blues, classic rock, contemporary Americana, and original songs.
